Adrian Houser trade grade for Rays, White Sox. The Tampa Bay Rays have never been afraid to get creative at the trade deadline, and this year was no exception. On paper, this is a classic Tampa Bay win-now move with minimal downside.

Yankees make 2 more inexplicable mistakes against Marlins. The Yankees have been making that-can't-happen plays routinely this summer. In just the first two innings of Saturday's game against the Marlins — coming off a disastrous 13-12 loss to Miami on Friday night — two more head-scratchers were added to that list. First, third base coach Luis Rojas waved leadoff man Trent Grisham around to try and score from second base on a base hit from Giancarlo Stanton with two outs in the first inning.

Current Seattle Mariners Team Starting to Have Similar Vibes to 2022. The Seattle Mariners front office made a clear statement with their trade deadline moves. The addition of first baseman Josh Naylor, left-handed reliever Caleb Ferguson and third baseman Eugenio Suarez was a vote of confidence from the front office to the current roster that this version of the club could make a legitimate run at the postseason. In the small sample size since the Suarez acquisition Wednesday, that confidence has been well-placed. Seattle went 2-0 through the first two of a four-game series against the Texas Rangers on Thursday and Friday.

Mackenzie Gore (P - WSH)

8/2/25 2:06 PM -
Nationals May Come to Regret Not Trading Ace Pitcher MacKenzie Gore. The 2025 MLB Trade Deadline has now come and gone, and the Washington Nationals were unsurprisingly one of the biggest sellers. This season has shown that the Nats are still firmly in rebuilding mode, and as such, it was a no-brainer for the front office to sell high on several key assets that were unlikely to play a role in the long-term vision of the franchise. Washington certainly got a fair return on the players they shipped off to contenders, but one guy they decided not to keep around despite his monumental trade value was the Ace of their rotation in MacKenzie Gore. Interim GM Mike DeBartolo decided against shipping Gore off to the highest bidder, though, despite some pretty sizable interest around the league, and this could be a decision the team comes to regret down the line.

Alex Cora gets brutally honest about Kristian Campbell after Red Sox trade deadline. It goes without saying that Kristian Campbell's first two months as a Major Leaguer with the Boston Red Sox didn't exactly go according to plan. Campbell's bat carried him through April, when he was named American League Rookie of the Month, but he quickly came crashing back down to earth in May. By mid-June, he was back at Triple-A Worcester — and with plenty of work to do. Campbell's success didn't come immediately upon his return to Triple-A, especially while he was still trying to learn first base.

After building leads of 6-0, 9-4, and 12-10, New York watched each one slip away in stunning fashion. Particularly concerning was the performance of the Yankees' newly acquired bullpen trio. Breaking Down Why Tigers Acquiring Chris Paddack Could Be Sneaky Good Move. After a terrible start to the second half of the season, the Detroit Tigers are starting to play a bit better of late. The Tigers were a team that didn't have too many bad stretches in the first half, which resulted in them having the best record in the American League for much of the year. Like during the offseason, Detroit didn't make too many major splashes at the trade deadline, but they did add some veterans to the team. While a lot of the targets that they were rumored to be a good fit for did get a deal, the Tigers took a more conservative approach.

With the Washington Nationals once again struggling, it was no surprise to see them as sellers at the trade deadline. Despite some higher expectations than in recent seasons coming into the year, the Nationals have once again not been able to improve in the win column. While there are multiple reasons for the struggles of the organization, a lot of that attention has been on the starting rotation and some young players not developing the way the franchise would have hoped. With the team being sellers at the trade deadline, it has freed up a lot of space for some young players to get a chance in full-time roles in the Majors.
