Ricky Pearsall's journey from gunshot wound to 49ers' key receiver. Pearsall survived the shooting and made it back on the field for the final 11 games, but wasn't able to truly show why he was picked in the first round by the Niners. “I just felt like I was behind the eight ball,” Pearsall said. ... From that Week 7 and on, that was my training camp. Pearsall made an immediate impact after getting back on the field and had a 46-yard TD catch in a Week 9 win at Tampa Bay.

Atlanta Falcons Sign Former Philadelphia Eagles, Houston Texans DB. Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris admitted after signing Henry Black that the team had some concerns about depth at safety for training camp. Atlanta added Xavier Watts in the third round of the NFL Draft and Jordan Fuller during free agency, but with a 90-man roster running three and four full teams, six to eight safeties to run practice at training camp is expected. Turns out, the Falcons weren't done after signing Black.

Noah Fant Ready to do 'Great Things' With Cincinnati Bengals Offense. Noah Fant is preparing for his first practice with the Bengals after signing with the team over the weekend. The former Broncos and Seahawks tight end is about to play with the best quarterback he has ever had in his six-season career. The dynamic TE weapon has been consistent this decade, posting at least a 61.6 Pro Football Focus grade every season, with 3,305 career yards and 15 touchdowns across 95 career games. "The proof is in the pudding when it comes to that," Fant noted to the media on Saturday.

Tyson Bagent (QB - CHI)

8/2/25 1:14 PM -
Sharpest player in the Bears QB room might not be Caleb Williams. If the Bears are entertaining thoughts about going with two quarterbacks on their roster rather than three, it comes down to a difficult choice. Or they could be cutting possibly the brains of the quarterback room and a potential starter at some point in Tyson Bagent. Bagent has been impressive throughout training camp with his command of the offense and ability to deliver the ball in time to backups against the backup defenders.

Washington Commanders (DEF - WAS)

8/2/25 1:00 PM -
Ex-Saints Pro Bowler Projected To Sign 2-Year, $36.5 Million Contract. The New Orleans Saints opted to trade star cornerback Marshon Lattimore to the Washington Commanders last season, landing a slew of NFL Draft selections in exchange for the star defender. Lattimore only appeared in two games with the Commanders after the trade, but he made four Pro Bowls and won a Defensive Rookie of the Year Award in the previous eight seasons with the Saints. Lattimore has separated himself as one of the more consistent defensive backs in football. Rohan Chakravarthi of SB Nation recently projected Lattimore would sign a two-year, $36.5 million contract extension with the Commanders.

Former Ravens Tackle Wants Hall of Fame Nomination. While the 2025 Pro Football Hall of Fame class enjoys the lead-up to their joint induction into the halls of Canton, OH on Saturday, some are already looking ahead to next year's crop. There are a few no-doubt legends who were just waiting until their eligibility started, with Super Bowl-winning quarterback Drew Brees and longtime wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald eager for the first, and likely only, time they'll see ballots that include their names. There are other fascinating figures who could join Brees and Fitzgerald next summer. Chicago Bears (DEF - CHI)

8/2/25 11:01 AM -
A frontrunner is beginning to emerge for Bears' starting left tackle. The Chicago Bears appear to have a problem on their hands concerning their offensive line, but it's a good problem: they have three players who could potentially start at left tackle and play the position well. Braxton Jones is the veteran, having spent the last three seasons as Chicago's starting left tackle. Kiran Amegadjie is in the middle of the three-way battle as he participates in his first NFL training camp, and rookie Ozzy Trapilo has impressed early, as well. Although head coach Ben Johnson insists that he won't rush his decision on the starting left tackle, one of these three seems to be in the lead for the job and that would be the rookie.

ESPN: Seahawks Day 3 NFL draft pick already has 'airtight' case to make 53-man roster. It's of course entirely too early to really know, but so far everything coming out of training camp for the Seattle Seahawks indicates that they've put together a special 2025 rookie class. After the NFL draft, Seattle got high marks from virtually every media outlet - and every nugget we've heard thus far shows they were right. Rookie quarterback Jalen Milroe is making plays with his legs and with his arm, Nick Emmanwori is already a stud on the back end, Grey Zabel is settling in quick up front and even fifth-rounder Tory Horton Jr. is making a name for himself. According to Brady Henderson at ESPN, Horton already has an airtight case to make the initial 53-man roster at the end of the month.

Seahawks insider: Jalen Milroe blasts 60-yard TD throw at training camp. With DK Metcalf now lining up with Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Seattle Seahawks have a vacancy for the title of the best athlete on the team. Fourth-year cornerback Riq Woolen will definitely be in the conversation, but a rarely gifted rookie might give him a run for his money. Caleb Williams (QB - CHI)

8/2/25 10:10 AM -
What Chicago Bears are doing about Caleb Williams' longball issues. Caleb Williams continues to display improvement at Bears practices within the offense, and also during attempts to extend plays. What the Bears quarterback hasn't really shown to date is a knack for consistently making the defense pay with the deep ball. This all runs opposite of what he showed in college, but Bears offensive coordinator Declan Doyle says there is no panic over this issue. "I think a lot of times, it's a couple things," Doyle said.

It resulted in an ugly 34-7 loss for Dan Campbell's squad in the NFL's annual Pro Football Hall of Fame game Thursday night.
