Mackenzie Gore (P - WSH)
8/2/25 2:06 PM - Nationals May Come to Regret Not Trading Ace Pitcher MacKenzie Gore. The 2025 MLB Trade Deadline has now come and gone, and the Washington Nationals were unsurprisingly one of the biggest sellers. This season has shown that the Nats are still firmly in rebuilding mode, and as such, it was a no-brainer for the front office to sell high on several key assets that were unlikely to play a role in the long-term vision of the franchise. Washington certainly got a fair return on the players they shipped off to contenders, but one guy they decided not to keep around despite his monumental trade value was the Ace of their rotation in MacKenzie Gore. Interim GM Mike DeBartolo decided against shipping Gore off to the highest bidder, though, despite some pretty sizable interest around the league, and this could be a decision the team comes to regret down the line.

King landed on the injured list May 25 after being scratched from his May 24 start against the Atlanta Braves with right shoulder inflammation, though was later diagnosed with a pinched nerve. The Padres made two additions to their rotation at the trade deadline in JP Sears and Nestor Cortes, and King will be another solid addition to their arsenal. Before his injury, King had performed at an even better level than last year, where he placed seventh in NL Cy Young voting.

8/2/25 2:00 PM - Cardinals Versatile Outfielder Listed As Possible Offseason Trade Candidate. The St. Louis Cardinals made three trades before the deadline this week, sending off relievers Ryan Helsley, Steven Matz and Phil Maton as part of a deadline sale. St. Louis didn't do anything more than that. According to John Mozeliak, they received a lot of interest in their left-handed bats, including Brendan Donovan, Nolan Gorman, Lars Nootbaar and Alec Burleson, but were not compelled by any of the offers.

Ronald Acuna (OF - ATL)
8/2/25 11:11 AM - Mark Wiedmer: Can Bad Braves Roar Past Reds In Bristol?. Every week for most of this Major League Baseball season, there's been a growing opinion that it can't get any worse for the Atlanta Braves. But as the Bravos join the Cincinnati Reds tonight at Bristol Motor Speedway for an otherwise meaningless game that will reportedly break a 71-year-old single-game MLB attendance record, I'll nominate this week as one of the worst in franchise history. Or don't you think losing 1-0 in 10 innings in Kansas City, blowing an 11-3 lead in Cincy by giving up eight runs in the eighth inning before winning 12-11 on two sacrifice flies in the 10th and losing Ronald Acuna Jr. But let's momentarily break from that mindset to focus on Bristol, which will be the first regular-season MLB game ever played in Tennessee.

8/2/25 9:31 AM - Brewers Should Add $12 Million 6x All-Star To Make Up For Lack of Power. The Milwaukee Brewers had a very busy trade deadline, making three total moves. They acquired outfielder Brandon Lockridge from the San Diego Padres in exchange for Nestor Cortes. They also acquired Danny Jansen from the Tampa Bay Rays and landed Shelby Miller and Jordan Mongtomgery in a deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks. They were reportedly one of the teams in the mix for Ryan O'Hearn, but nothing materialized unfortunately. However, with that in mind, the Brewers still could find a way to boost their offensive production. Surprisingly, veteran designated hitter J.D. Alex Call (OF - LAD)
8/2/25 9:00 AM - Breaking Down Nationals Trading Alex Call in Potential Sneaky Good Move for Dodgers. With the Washington Nationals once again struggling, it was no surprise to see them as sellers at the trade deadline. Despite some higher expectations than in recent seasons coming into the year, the Nationals have once again not been able to improve in the win column. While there are multiple reasons for the struggles of the organization, a lot of that attention has been on the starting rotation and some young players not developing the way the franchise would have hoped. With the team being sellers at the trade deadline, it has freed up a lot of space for some young players to get a chance in full-time roles in the Majors.
