4/01/25 Gleyber Torres could really help Detroit Tigers if he agrees to play third base. It's already been a rocky season for the Detroit Tigers on the injury front. Free agent starting pitcher signee Alex Cobb went down before spring training games began. Shortly after, the Tigers lost two-third of their starting outfield in Parker Meadows and Matt Vierling. Then, in the second game against the Dodgers, the Tigers lost second baseman Gleyber Torres to an oblique injury -- on a home run swing, no less.

3/18/25 Detroit Tigers Injured Veteran Free Agent Pitcher Makes Huge Recovery Step. The Detroit Tigers may soon have some very positive injury news coming their way after what has been a rough spring in that department. According to the team's weekly medical update per Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press, right-handed pitcher Alex Cobb is scheduled to throw a bullpen session tomorrow after missing all of spring training to this point with right hip inflammation. Cobb, who was signed this offseason on a one-year deal worth $15 million and potentially up to $17 million from innings-based incentives, has not been able to throw a bullpen to this point, though by the sounds of it is well on schedule in his recovery.

2/18/25 Detroit Tigers Must Be Mindful Not To Block Rookie's Development at Key Position. The Detroit Tigers have started up Spring Training and the team will be having high expectations coming into the new campaign. It was a strong offseason overall for the Tigers. Despite a slow start in terms of additions, Detroit did a good job strengthening a couple of areas of need. The additions of Alex Cobb and Jack Flaherty in the starting rotation have helped not only with the depth of the unit, but Flaherty will be able to provide them with some high-end talent.
