A year after drafting Ladd McConkey, which obviously worked out beautifully, and a day after adding stud running back Omarion Hampton into the backfield, the Los Angeles Chargers got the best deep threat in college football last season in Ole Miss wide receiver Tre Harris. Harris, a 6-foot-2 205 lbs outside wide receiver, was on an absolute tear before suffering an injury in 2024. While McConkey will keep cooking defenders on the inside, Harris will take the top off the defense and be on the other end of Justin Herbert's rocket launcher of an arm.

Nobody could believe that Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders was not selected in the first round of the NFL Draft on Thursday night. Over the course of the evening, Sanders became the story of the draft as pick after pick went by without his name being called. The former Colorado star was easily the most surprising faller of this draft, but he is far from the first person that we have seen fall down draft boards on the night of the first round. One of the most notable draft slides recently belonged to former Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson, who fell all the way to the final pick of the first round in 2016 before the Baltimore Ravens scooped him up.

On Thursday night, after the Chiefs drafted Josh Simmons with the last pick of the first round, Booger McFarland said he had the same injury when he played for the Indianapolis Colts. Simmons, a 6-5, 317-pound tackle from Ohio State, sustained a patellar injury in his left knee during the first half of an Oct. 12 loss at Oregon. The ensuing season-ending surgery allowed Simmons to slide to the Chiefs at the end of the first round, after a late-night trade with Philadelphia that netted Kansas City an additional fifth-round choice (164) for moving down one slot to pick Simmons.

This upcoming season will be the third for the veteran donning a Chiefs uniform, and the first time doing so in back-to-back seasons. Last year, while his role wasn't large, Smith-Schuster found a ton of ways to contribute both on and off the field. Flacco happy to be back with Browns. Joe Flacco didn't think coming back to Cleveland was going to be a possibility at the start of free agency. Perhaps that is why Flacco has learned during his 17 years in the NFL not to expect anything until a contract is signed. Flacco signed his one-year contract on Tuesday as the Browns began offseason workouts. The 40-year-old signal caller won the AP NFL Comeback Player of the Year award in 2023 after going 4-1 as a starter with the Browns and averaging more than 300 passing yards per game as Cleveland made the playoffs for only the third time since its return in 1999.
