| 2/02/25 | Lakewood Ranch High alum enters his biggest season with Giants. When San Francisco Giants outfielder Grant McCray stepped up to the plate on Aug. 14, 2024, his hands were shaking. It made sense — the Lakewood Ranch High graduate was making his Major League debut, called up from AAA-level Sacramento earlier that morning to start in center field against the Atlanta Braves. McCray had played in big league stadiums before, a high school showcase at Tropicana Field, an instructional league game at Chase Field, the Arizona Diamondbacks' stadium, but nothing to this extent. “The lights just hit differently when there's 40,000 people in the stands and you can feel the stadium shaking,” said McCray.
