4/25/25 Nats turn triple play, halt Mets' 7-game win streak. James Wood singled to drive in the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth and the Washington Nationals rallied past the New York Mets 5-4 on Friday night, snapping New York's seven-game winning streak. With Washington trailing 4-3, Dylan Crews led off the ninth against Ryne Stanek (0-1) with his third hit, a triple off Juan Soto's glove at the wall, and scored on a single up the middle by Jose Tena.

4/25/25 Washington Nationals Slugger's Power Production Gives Him Superstar Potential. The Washington Nationals have been playing some better baseball of late, winning four out of their last five games. Despite a slow start to the year, the Nationals are starting to play better of late with some encouraging signs from the young core. While there have been multiple players both in the lineup and in the starting rotation playing well, one player has really stood out above the rest. Tim Kelly of Bleacher Report recently wrote about the power of James Wood being something that the Nationals should be getting excited about this year.

4/23/25 Nationals mash early to claim another Beltway win over Orioles. April 24 - James Wood and Josh Bell belted early home runs and Luis Garcia Jr.'s eighth-inning sacrifice fly broke a tie as the Washington Nationals beat the visiting Baltimore Orioles 4-3 on Wednesday night. The Nationals won for the second night in a row and go for the sweep of the three-game series Thursday night. They've claimed victories in four of their last five games. Washington starter Trevor Williams turned in five solid innings, allowing one run on six hits with a walk and five strikeouts. Reliever Jorge Lopez (1-0) logged 1 2/3 innings and picked up the win despite allowing the tying run. Adley Rutschman, Cedric Mullins and Jackson Holliday each had two hits for the Orioles, who showed

4/17/25 Washington Nationals Emerging Star Putting Up Mind Blowing Numbers Against Lefties. The Washington Nationals have had an up and down start to the season and while the wins have not been there in significant numbers - at least not yet - some young stars have emerged as having taken the next step. There may be no greater example in baseball as a whole let alone just the Nationals of someone who has ascended in the early portion of the season to a higher status level than Washington's young slugging outfielder James Wood. In 18 games at the start of the year, Wood has done some absolutely incredible things and is slashing .242/.359/.561 with 16 hits and sitting tied for the National League lead with six home runs along with 13 RBI. Despite being a left-handed hitter -- who of course have a tendency to struggle against left-handed pitching especially early in their careers -- Wood has absolutely teed off on opposing lefty pitchers.
