1/23/25 | Red Sox top pitching prospect takes first big step in return from elbow injury. The Boston Red Sox's farm system may be known for their talented position players at the moment, but there are a few arms that should make an impact at the major-league level in the near future. Right-handed starter Luis Perales is one of them. Since debuting with the DSL Red Sox in 2021 at 18, he's moved through the system and reached Double-A Portland last year before tearing his UCL and undergoing Tommy John Surgery. The Boston Red Sox are well represented on Baseball America's top 100 list with four prospects cracking the rankings. A devastating injury to starting pitcher Luis Perales last season probably made the difference in not getting the recognition. “Perales has long been one of the more intriguing arms in Boston's system,” Josh Norris of Baseball America wrote.
