4/23/25 Texas Rangers Being Extra Cautious With Star Pitching Prospect's Concerning Injury. The unfortunate series of pitching injuries continues for the Texas Rangers as they suffered another blow to their minor league pitching prospects. On the heels of right-handed pitchers Marc Church, Winston Santos, and Paul Bonzagni being placed on the IL, the development of righty Emiliano Teodo is on pause. According to MLB Rangers beat reporter Kennedi Landry, righty Emiliano Teodo is joining them on the IL as Texas employs a prudent and patient approach to injuries early in the 2025 season.

4/16/25 Texas Rangers option hard-throwing reliever to Triple-A Round Rock; recall veteran lefty. With the bullpen facing a constant pinch due to a shortage of long relievers, the club on Wednesday optioned Marc Church to Triple-A Round Rock and recalled lefty Jake Latz. Church, 24, had made the opening day roster for the first time, but had appeared in just five of the club's first 17 games as the Rangers tried to walk a delicate balance between his development and their late-inning hierarchy. Church, who made his MLB debut on the final weekend of the 2024 season, has struggled to find a definitive role in the Rangers' bullpen, partly because he's essentially a one-inning pitcher and partly because he's struggled with command.

2/28/25 With Black pitchers in MLB becoming rarity, Texas Rangers' Marc Church aims to buck trend. Back in high school in Atlanta, a buddy challenged Marc Church, a shortstop, that he couldn't hit 88 mph off the mound in a game as a pitcher. Church hit 90, picked up the bills, figured he'd have some gas money for his Honda CR-V and a bit left over for a couple of Chick-fil-As or Chipotle bowls. Church's talent put him on the radar as a potential pitching prospect. In the tight-knit Black baseball community in Atlanta, word of Church's live arm quickly got back to former MLB pitcher Marvin Freeman, who runs a baseball-related youth foundation and is key in MLB's efforts to raise Black participation in the game.
