4/08/25 | Reds play it cautious, put 2B McLain on 10-day IL. Cincinnati Reds second baseman Matt McLain was placed on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday with a strained left hamstring that the team expects will heal quickly by giving him some days to rest. Manager Terry Francona said McLain had been bothered by the leg in recent days, and it made sense to get him off his legs and be cautious in the hope that he can come back in a week. "There's just so much baseball left to play that it just didn't seem like it made a lot of sense to try to push through this right now," Francona said before the Reds played the middle game of their three-game series series against the San Francisco Giants. McLain was batting .214 with three home runs and five RBIs over eight games, including seven starts at second base. Source: https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/44593683/reds-... |
4/06/25 | Former Bruin Continues to Deal with Injuries. Former UCLA Bruin and current Cincinnati Reds infielder Matt McLain has once again been bit by the injury bug. A bug that has cost him one year to his young career already, the former Bruin infielder looks to bounce back quicker this time around. Debuting to Major League Baseball in 2023, McLain had a strong campaign for the Reds as he made his name known to the fans of Cincinnati. The 2024 season though was one to forget for the former Bruin, as he missed the whole campaign due to a shoulder injury sustained before the start of the season.
