4/25/25 MLB writer sounds alarm about slumping Yankees 23-year-old: 'Flashing red light'. The New York Yankees have always expected that at some point, Anthony Volpe will develop into an above-average hitter. Volpe is in his third season with the Yankees now, and he's done a lot of good things. After a red-hot start to the season through the Yankees' first 10 games, Volpe has been in free fall. How damaging will it be to the Yankees' overall outlook if Volpe can't produce?

4/25/25 Anthony Volpe's deep slump leaving Yankees in a quandry. While no one was crazy enough to call Volpe the next Derek Jeter, the idea that he could be a rising star by Year 3 wasn't a reach. This much is certain: Volpe is in throes of a monster slump that's dropped his average to .198. After the 5-1 victory, Aaron Boone promised to stand by Volpe, regardless of his day to day struggles. This is good advice not just for YES viewers but for Volpe, too.

4/22/25 Why there's hope this isn't actually Anthony Volpe's Yankees ceiling. Joel Sherman Why there's hope this isn't actually Anthony Volpe's Yankees ceiling By Joel Sherman Published April 22, 2025, 6:00 a.m. ET Anthony Volpe stands in front of the dugout before a Yankees-Royals game at Yankee Stadium on April 16, 2025. Corey Sipkin for the NY Post Anthony Volpe finished his rookie season with a .666 OPS. Through the weekend — through 1,382 career plate appearances — Volpe had a .666 OPS. The devil is in the details of that number. Notably, the more things change, the more Volpe stays the same. He was a strong defender, fine baserunner and had excellent durability as a rookie with underwhelming offensive results, especially relative to expectations. Or pretty much what

4/19/25 Anthony Volpe's glove continues to be important Yankees bright spot. TAMPA — The Yankees might not have a streakier hitter than Anthony Volpe. But they certainly do not have a better defender, either, and Volpe's glove has continued to shine at shortstop regardless of how dark it gets at the plate. “That's who he is,” manager Aaron Boone said. “He's just such a good player. It's so valuable to have someone like that at the premier position out there. To have him play the way he does, it's big.” Friday night was a prime example. Volpe went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts — including two punch-outs on a combined six fastballs, all in the zone, in his first two at-bats — but was in the middle of a few terrific plays in the field that preserved a 1-0 win over the Rays.

4/19/25 Why is Yankees' Anthony Volpe in another bad slump? He knows it's obvious. Mixed in with Anthony Volpe looking like a modern-day Ozzie Smith on Friday night, the Yankees shortstop had another rough night at the plate while flashing some fantastic defense in a 1-0 win over the Rays. Yes, there have been occasional teases in the Yankees' first 20 games that Volpe's offseason adjustments will have a big payoff, but early-on big production with power has transformed into a lot of recent struggles. Volpe has four homers and 15 RBI, but he's hitting .197. “I'm just missing pitches,” Volpe said.
