4/24/25 Red Sox Urged To Make Difficult Roster Decision Involving Infielder. The Boston Red Sox have have had an up-and-down start to the 2025 Major League Baseball season, but there has been more good than bad for sure. One guy who has been a part of this is infielder David Hamilton. Because of this, FanSided's Devon Platana suggested that Boston should send him down to the minors in favor of Vaughn Grissom or Nick Sogard. "If that isn't disappointing enough, Hamilton is striking out on a career-worst 27.6 percent of plate appearances (MLB average is 22.6 percent) while his average exit velocity (83.6 mph) is also noticeably below last year's effort (83.6)," Platana said.

4/17/25 Garrett Whitlock Clears Air About 'Terrible' Pitch In Stellar Outing. David Hamilton wasn't the only member of the Red Sox who turned in a much-needed, game-changing performance Wednesday night. Garrett Whitlock was called on by Alex Cora after starter Sean Newcomb and Greg Weissert combined to pitch six scoreless innings. Whitlock was terrific for the visitors, who saw the right-hander throw a pair of clean frames in which he only allowed one hit and struck out four. The dominant outing paved the way for Justin Slaten to notch a save and seal a 1-0 triumph and a series victory.

4/17/25 David Hamilton Makes Admission About Game-Winning Home Run. The lone run the Red Sox scored Wednesday night at George M. Steinbrenner Field was unexpected for multiple reasons. The source of the run was unlikely, as David Hamilton only logged one hit through his first nine games this season. “I was hoping it would get down for (a hit) but no, I didn't think it was going over,” Hamilton told reporters, per MassLive. Hamilton's homer was the definition of a frozen rope, as it had an exit velocity of 105.8 mph with a launch angle of only 20 degrees.

4/17/25 Hamilton homers, bullpen retires 13 of final 14 hitters, and Red Sox beat Rays 1-0. By ZAK GILBERT Associated Press TAMPA (AP) — David Hamilton hit a third-inning home run, four pitchers combined to strike out 13 and the Boston Red Sox beat the Tampa Bay Rays 1-0 on Wednesday night. Hamilton lined a 3-2 fastball just inside the right-field foul pole off Rays starter Zack Littell (0-4) to lead off the third and give Boston all it needed in the three-game series finale. The Red Sox rebounded from Monday's 16-1 loss to win the final two games. Playing without Alex Bregman, on paternity leave after a career-high five hits with two homers in Tuesday's win, the Boston bullpen limited the Rays to one hit over the final 4 1/3 innings. Relievers Greg Weissert (1-0), Garrett Whitlock

4/16/25 Red Sox reactions: David Hamilton homers to break 1-for-21 slump in 1-0 win. TAMPA — Instant reactions from the Red Sox ' 1-0 win over the Rays on Wednesday here at George M. Steinbrenner Field : 1) David Hamilton entered 1-for-21 (.048 batting average) this season. But he put the Red Sox ahead 1-0 with a 335-foot home run to right field to lead off the third inning. The line drive homer — which had a 105.8 mph and 20 degree launch angle — would have been a home run in no other major league park, per Statcast. 2) Greg Weissert did a fantastic job in relief. Weissert took over for starter Sean Newcomb with two outs and two men on base in the fifth inning. He struck out Yandy Díaz swinging to preserve a 1-0 lead. Weissert then struck out two more batters (Junior Caminero
