4/08/25 | MACK - MY TUESDAY OBSERVATIONS. This is the fourth year Baty has tried to crack the Mets starting lineup. The options are playing LuisAngel Acuna full time, waiting it out until Jeff comes back, going to the church and lighting candles every night praying that Ronny Mauricio will be back soon, or promoting D.A. Castillo from Syracuse, who is also hitting below the Mendoza line this season. The Mets pitching is currently carrying the ghost bats on this team and nowhere is this more apparent than second base. As for Baty, he doesn't even line up as a viable piece in a future trade. Source: http://macksmets.blogspot.com/2025/04/mack-my-tues... |
4/03/25 | MACK - My Thursday Observations. Guess you say Starlin Marte or Luisangel Acuna hit a home run between being plunked all night, but this was tempered by David Peterson's first home run pitch. Tuesday just brought back some more of those ghost bats standing behind the ghost pitcher. Thankfully, the pitching is holding up through this rollercoaster ride, and It sure doesn't hurt what little the Braves are churning out, but the Mets need to get their bats together and make sure Philly doesn't spring out of the gate with too big of a lead. Drew Gilbert to be in the lineup Friday for St. Lucie (rehab). Source: http://macksmets.blogspot.com/2025/04/mack-my-thur... |
3/29/25 | Reese Kaplan -- Game One Is Finished But There Are 161 More. It's a 162 game season and no team goes 162-0. While it's way too early to draw any definitive conclusions it was encouraging to see the glove work by Luisangel Acuna whose addition to the 26 man roster was indeed an eleventh hour decision. It appears as if for the early part of the Jeff McNeil absence it is Carlos Mendoza's intention to play a strict lefty/righty platoon at second base with Brett Baty riding the pines (or fiberglass) whenever a lefty starts the game for the opposition.
