3/14/25 | Toronto Blue Jays get good-news injury update on Alek Manoah. Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Alek Manoah is making good progress in his recovery from Tommy John surgery. After finally starting to get his game back on track last season, Manoah was forced to leave a start in late May. By the time mid-June rolled around, the Blue Jays announced that he would be undergoing Tommy John surgery, not only ending his 2024 season but also taking a good chunk of his 2025 campaign away. Manoah spoke with reporters afterward, calling the day “amazing” and a “whirlwind of emotion.” Manoah wound up making just five starts last season, pitching to a 3.70 ERA along with 26 strikeouts. 1/12/25 | Alek Manoah gets firm injury return timeline amid hopeful Blue Jays comeback tour. Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Alek Manoah has set his sights on a late-season comeback after undergoing elbow reconstruction surgery in June. The one-time ace, who was dominant in his first two MLB seasons with a 2.60 ERA and a 1.01 WHIP, shared his progress and optimism during an appearance on the Deep Left Field podcast. Manoah is seven months into a grueling rehab process that typically takes over a year, but he remains upbeat about his progress. “It's been going amazing,” Manoah said. Despite his enthusiasm, the 26-year-old is realistic about the challenges ahead, drawing wisdom from players like former teammate Hyun-Jin Ryu, who have navigated similar recoveries. “I try to put myself in their shoes… When things get tough, I knew this was coming,” Manoah said. 1/02/25 | Toronto Blue Jays' Manoah provides timeline of return from Tommy John surgery. It will be some time before Toronto Blue Jays fans see Alek Manoah back on the mound. The 26-year-old injured his elbow last June and wound up requiring season-ending Tommy John surgery. It's crazy to think [that it's been] seven months. Instead, he's treating himself as if he will be a midseason pickup that can give the Blue Jays the push they need to not only make the playoffs, but also go on a deep run. 11/25/24 | Popular former Blue Jays pitcher Yusei Kikuchi signs big three-year deal with Los Angeles Angels. The Japanese lefty, who was traded to the Houston Astros at last summer's Major League Baseball trade deadline, has agreed to terms on a three-year, $63-million US deal with the Los Angeles Angels. The signing was one of the first major moves in the free agency season and was earned after a strong first half with the Jays and an even better second half with the Astros. Signed to a three-year $36 million deal with the Jays prior to the 2022 season, Kikuchi struggled in his first season, but became an integral part of the Toronto rotation in 2023, especially after Alek Manoah struggled.
