4/24/25 | Red Sox 'Likely' To Take Step Toward Full Strength This Weekend. The Boston Red Sox aren't at full strength right now but they could start to take a step in the right direction this weekend. Red Sox catcher Connor Wong has been out since suffering a fracture in the pinky area of his left hand on April 7th against the Toronto Blue Jays. Boston has stayed above water since then with Carlos Narváez and Blake Sabol as the team's two catchers. While this is the case, Wong is “likely” to begin a rehab assignment this weekend, according to The Athletic's Jen McCaffrey. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/red-sox/boston-red-sox-news... |

Since Connor Wong's injury, the Boston Red Sox have been searching for effective replacements behind the plate. Carlos Narváez has taken over the starting job after beating out Blake Sabol in spring training. The latter has since been called up to be the backup, but beyond that, their depth is relatively poor. 4/18/25 | Red Sox injuries: Connor Wong ahead of schedule, Masataka Yoshida having 'good days and bad'. The Red Sox currently have a handful of players on the Injured List. On Friday, manager Alex Cora offered some updates on a number of them. Kutter Crawford (knee) threw off the mound at Fenway Friday afternoon, with an eye toward a live batting practice session soon and, the team hopes, a rehab assignment to follow. Everything we get from the medical (staff) and he had an MRI in spring training and the knee is OK, so now, it's just a ramp-up and get him there.
