4/17/25 | Stephen Vogt focused on instilling confidence in Triston McKenzie: Guardians takeaways. After Guardians reliever Triston McKenzie struggled through a four-run inning in Wednesday's 9-1 loss to Baltimore, Cleveland's coaches and front office reaffirmed that the organization is committed to supporting the 27-year-old righty and helping him become the “best version of himself” this season. “He still has great stuff, his fastball's got great life, great carry,” Guardians president of baseball operations Chris Antonetti said. Vogt said McKenzie's command has been not where he wants it to be, but Guardians coaches are working tirelessly to help him achieve a level of consistency with his breaking pitches. “When you're not landing your off-speed in the zone and major league hitters can sit on a fastball, they're going to hit it hard,” Vogt said.
