4/24/25 Guardians Slugger Has Been A 'Pleasant Surprise' To Start Season. The biggest question for the Cleveland Guardians coming into the season was who would be their starting second baseman after trading Andres Gimenez over the winter. Ultimately, Gabriel Arias has seen most of the playing time in the position. After some disappointment earlier in his career, Arias looked like a different player through the season's first month. Bleacher Report's Tim Kelly recently identified Arias as one reason for Guardians fans to be excited early in 2025 and called his offensive production a "pleasent surprise."

Andres Gimenez hit his third home run in five games and Bowden Francis gave up two hits in six innings as the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Washington Nationals 5-2 Monday in interleague play. After his homer, Gimenez walked, was hit by a pitch, recorded his 100th career stolen base and doubled. Francis (1-0) took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before giving up back-to-back solo home runs to C.J. Abrams and James Woods with one out that cut Toronto's lead to 4-2.

When fielding savant Andres Gimenez hit 32 home runs over a two-season stretch with the Cleveland Guardians, it seemed as if the middle infielder could morph into an all-round talent. The offseason trade addition is already making franchise history in the Great White North during the 2025 season. 3/17/25 Blue Jays listed as possible landing spot for $56 million Cy Young. The Toronto Blue Jays are entering the 2025 season hoping to bounce back after a dreadful finish to 2024. After reaching the postseason three times in a four-year span, Toronto fell to last place in the American League East, finishing with a record of 74-88. This past offseason, they made some big moves, trading for Andres Gimenez while also signing Max Scherzer, Anthony Santander and Jeff Hoffman. On Friday, Bleacher Report's Zachary D. Rymer listed them as a possible fit for right-hander Sandy Alcantara, who will likely be traded at some point this year.
