The Chicago White Sox were hoping 2025 would be better after they lost 121 games last year, a major league record since 1900. Instead, their pain is continuing in new ways. Chicago’s 3-2 loss to Cleveland on Wednesday night was its seventh straight. The South Siders are 2-9, the same record they had after 11 games last season. The White Sox were on the verge of tying the score in the ninth inning when Mike Tauchman appeared to get injured while rounding third base after an RBI single by Miguel Vargas. Chicago held the Guardians to three hits for the second straight day, but still lost. 4/06/25 | White Sox activate OF Mike Tauchman, DFA OF Travis Jankowski. The Chicago White Sox reinstated outfielder Mike Tauchman from the 10-day injured list on Sunday. In a corresponding move, Chicago designated outfielder Travis Jankowski for assignment. Tauchman, 34, was put on the injured list March 27 (retroactive to March 23) due to a strained right hamstring. The White Sox signed him as a free agent in December. Tauchman is a entering his eighth major league season and has played in 474 games with the Colorado Rockies, New York Yankees, San Francisco Giants and Chicago Cubs. He has a career batting average of .241 with 32 home runs and 155 RBIs. He spent the past two seasons with the Cubs, batting .250 with 15 homers, 77 runs driven in and 13 stolen bases. Outfielder Mike Tauchman will likely open the season on the injured list with a hamstring strain, a source confirmed to the Sun-Times, and infielder Josh Rojas will open on the IL with a hairline fracture in his big right toe.
