4/04/25 Yes, the Mariners really have two guys named Luis Castillo, and they're both righty pitchers. On Thursday, the Mariners started a right-handed pitcher named Luis Castillo. On Friday, the Mariners also started a right-handed pitcher named Luis Castillo. The Thursday starter was three-time All-Star Luis Miguel Castillo, formerly of the Cincinnati Reds, likely familiar to many baseball fans.

4/03/25 Mariners calling another Luis Castillo up to join rotation (yes, really). Between “The Rock” who shares his name and “The Rock” tourist attraction just a few miles away, Mariners pitcher Luis F. Castillo is about to make his major-league starting debut in maybe the most interesting fashion imaginable. For the second game in a row, the Mariners are expected to have a Luis Castillo start a game for them. Luis F. Castillo is expected to be promoted from Triple-A Tacoma on Friday to make a spot start for the Mariners' 2025 road opener against the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park, located just a few miles away from Alcatraz Island, the famed San Francisco Bay penitentiary known as “The Rock.”

3/15/25 Luis Castillo, Logan Gilbert progress in Mariners' split-squad losses. Making his fourth start of the spring, Luis Castillo worked into the fifth inning before reaching his pitch limit of 65. After holding the Padres scoreless over the first three innings, he allowed two runs in the fourth on a solo homer from Gavin Sheets and an RBI double from Connor Joe. Castillo retired the first two batters of the fifth inning before being lifted. “I thought 'The Rock' threw the ball very, very well today,” manager Dan Wilson said.

3/10/25 A J.P. Crawford Resurgence Would Go a Long Way For the Seattle Mariners in 2025. The Seattle Mariners beat the Colorado Rockies, 8-1, on Sunday afternoon in Cactus League play. The win was a solid one for the M's, who saw Luis Castillo pitch into the fourth inning and also got a nice defensive play from Julio Rodriguez in center field. This could be said about several M's players this season, but if Crawford can bounce back from a dreadful 2024, it would go a long way toward giving the Mariners the kind of offense they desire to have under first-year manager Dan Wilson.
