Syracuse – With timely hitting and a strong day by the pitching staff, the Syracuse Mets took down the Worcester Red Sox 8-3 on Friday night at Polar Park. Five of Syracuse's ten hits on Friday were extra-base hits. For the second consecutive game, Syracuse (11-14) opened the scoring in the top of the first inning. After Drew Gilbert walked, Joey Meneses brought Gilbert home with an RBI triple that put the Mets ahead, 1-0. In the third inning, the Mets put pressure on Red Sox starter Lucas Giolito. Thomas Nestico @TJStats Team Starters ERA MLB ERA Leaders Bullpen ERA by Team Syracuse – The Syracuse Mets finally got the big hit they needed with a Joey Meneses three-run double that sparked the offense to a 6-2 victory over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on Saturday night at Coca-Cola Park. Mets top prospect Brandon Sproat also starred, retiring 13 of the 17 batters he faced in a start on the mound. In the Mets' second-highest scoring output of the season, the pitching staff also held up its end of the bargain. Sproat put forth his best start of the season, tossing four and one-third innings, allowing just two hits, one run, two walks, and striking out six. Michael Tricarico Syracuse, NY - The Syracuse Mets got off to a hot start but cooled off late in an 8-4 loss to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Sunday afternoon at NBT Bank Stadium. Joey Meneses had three doubles and two RBIs in the game for the Mets. Syracuse (3-5) jumped on top in the bottom of the first inning. José Azocar led off with a walk, stole second base, and moved to third on a Billy McKinney fly out to center field. Azocar scored when Jon Singleton singled to right field for a 1-0 Mets lead. Meneses followed with a double down the left-field line, bringing Singleton home from first to make it a 2-0 game.
