4/04/25 | Pirates Reveal Home Opener Lineup. The Pittsburgh Pirates revealed their starting lineup for their home opener vs. the New York Yankees at PNC Park. The Pirates will have third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes lead off for the first time this season. This is the fifth different player that has led off for the Pirates in a game this season and fourth straight game with a different leadoff hitter. Hayes will also see the top half of the lineup for the first time, as he has either hit in sixth, seventh or eighth so far in 2025. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/pirates/news/pittsburgh-pir... |
2/13/25 | Pirates' Ke'Bryan Hayes Addresses Chronic Back Issues. Pittsburgh Pirates third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes is excited for the 2025 season and looking to get back to his best self for the upcoming campaign. Hayes struggled throughout the 2024 season with back issues, heading to the Injured List twice, including in mid-August, which kept him out the rest of the campaign. Hayes went to Los Angeles and met with Dr. Robert Watkins IV, a renowned orthopedic spine surgeon, who created the Backdoor App, that allows Hayes to follow a structured program to work on his back issues. “For the most part, I'm pain free," Hayes said. 2/12/25 | Pirates' Hayes nearly pain-free after back issue. Ke'Bryan Hayes is not entirely pain free and may never be "100%" again, but the Pittsburgh Pirates' third baseman is confident he can get pretty close. The former Gold Glove winner was limited to just 97 games in 2024 because of a chronic lower-back issue. "I think for us to be a good team, I have to be that special at my position," Hayes said Wednesday. Pittsburgh, which did little in free agency to bolster an offense that finished near the bottom of the majors in every major category, is heavily invested in the 28-year-old Hayes returning to form. 12/16/24 | Pirates Receiving Positive Feedback On Ke'Bryan Hayes. On the heels of arguably the best season of his career, things came crashing down for Pittsburgh Pirates third baseman Ke'Bryan Hayes in 2024. Multiple back injuries limited Hayes to just 96 games last season, and even when the former Gold Glove winner was on the field, he struggled to play up to the level he was at in 2022 and 2023. With a whole offseason to recover, Pirates general manager Ben Cherington said he's heard nothing but good news for Hayes thus far and noted the boost his team will receive if the star third baseman is fully healthy in 2025.
