4/25/25 | Former Detroit Tigers infielder announces retirement. Former Detroit Tigers infielder and utility man Niko Goodrum has retired from baseball at age 33. Goodrum had been playing for the New York Mets' Triple-A affiliate in Syracuse, which announced the retirement this week. Goodrum confirmed the news on his Instagram account. The MLB transaction log shows that utility man Niko Goodrum, most recently with the New York Mets Triple-A affiliate, has decided to retire from the sport of baseball.
