The odds got a little longer for right-hander David Buchanan, who is trying to resume a major league career that started more than a decade ago before a seven-year detour to Asia, to make the Texas Rangers roster. Buchanan, a non-roster pitcher who made one appearance for Cincinnati last year, his first major league outing since 2015, suffered a left ankle sprain on Sunday during fielding drills. The organization on Tuesday agreed to a minor-league contract with right-handed pitcher David Buchanan, a person with knowledge of the transaction confirmed to The Dallas Morning News. The deal includes an invitation to Surprise, Ariz. for camp. After spending the majority of last season in the minors, Buchanan, 35, appeared in one game with the Cincinnati Reds, giving up one run over 3 1/3 innings.
