4/22/25 | Rangers' starter Patrick Corbin impresses again, pitches Texas to first win in Sacramento. First he missed the entirety of spring training and was escalated to the major leagues before he had the chance to throw in a real minor league game. Then he started one of the coldest contest in Texas Rangers history for his season debut, navigated a venomous bite in his second and worked in a minor league ballpark where the ball flies in his third. Patrick Corbin — despite all of that — has given the Rangers everything they could have asked of him, and then some. Be the smartest Rangers fan. 4/21/25 | Rangers in search of missing offense in road series vs. A's. The Texas Rangers will look to locate their suddenly missing offense when they face the Athletics on Tuesday in the opener of the three-game American League West series in Sacramento, Calif. The Rangers will start left-hander Patrick Corbin (1-0, 3.86 ERA) while the Athletics will counter with right-hander Osvaldo Bido (2-1, 2.61). Texas heads west after losing two of three at home to the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers that included a 1-0 setback on Sunday in the series' rubber game. 4/17/25 | Stricken by bite, Texas' Corbin nearly missed start. Texas Rangers left-hander Patrick Corbin earned his first win of the season Wednesday night, but it was a start he nearly wasn't able to make. The culprit -- what Corbin and the Rangers believe was "venom" from an apparent bite on his foot two days before his start that made it difficult for him to walk. "They said something bit me, but I still don't know what it was," Corbin told reporters Thursday. Hours before Corbin allowed one run in 5? innings in a 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Angels, Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said it was "50/50" whether he would pitch because of the condition of his ankle. 4/06/25 | Despite short ramp-up, LHP Patrick Corbin feels ready to start for Texas Rangers. The Texas Rangers hoped that recently signed left-hander Patrick Corbin could squeeze one more minor league ramp-up start in before he joined the major league roster. “I've been telling them,” Corbin said Sunday, “I feel pretty good.” Good, because after right-hander Jack Leiter landed on the injured list with a blister, Corbin was promoted to the active roster and will make his season debut Tuesday against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. The Rangers signed the 35-year-old at the tail end of spring training to reinforce a rotation that lost both right-hander Jon Gray (fractured wrist) and left-hander Cody Bradford (elbow soreness) to injuries. 3/25/25 | Texas Rangers Boss Reveals New Starting Pitcher's Status for Opening Day. The Texas Rangers hope that Patrick Corbin, on some level, is the solution to their depth issues in the starting rotation. On Monday, Corbin joined the team at Globe Life Field in Arlington before their scheduled exhibition game with the Kansas City Royals. When the Rangers signed Corbin to a $1.1 million deal last week, him joining the team in Arlington, as opposed to spring training in Surprise, Ariz., was always the plan. Not only did the signing come late, but Corbin wanted to be with his wife as she delivered their child, which happened on Saturday. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/rangers/news/texas-rangers-... |

3/18/25 | Texas Rangers Sign Free Agent All-Star Pitcher to Lucrative Deal. The Texas Rangers have made a major move late in the game and have added to their pitching staff. According to an announcement from the team, the Rangers have signed former Washington Nationals and Arizona Diamondbacks free agent All-Star left-hander pitcher Patrick Corbin to a one-year deal. Jon Heyman of the New York Post has reported the deal is worth slightly over $1 million in guaranteed money and contains "a few million" in other incentives which will likely be both performance and innings based. While Corbin has struggled mightily over the last several seasons, he also throws some of the highest inning totals in all of baseball, something Texas is in desperate need of right now with so many injuries on the pitching staff. 3/15/25 | Washington Nationals Former World Series MVP Has New Worst Contract on Team. When the Washington Nationals signed Patrick Corbin away from the Arizona Diamondbacks following the 2018 season, he immediately made that deal look like a strong investment. Across 202 innings he had a stellar 3.25 ERA with 238 strikeouts, looking like a future cornerstone. In the World Series against the Houston Astros, he worked out of the bullpen twice, including Game 7 for three shutout innings to help seal the deal. 3/11/25 | Washington Nationals Veteran Pitcher Poised for Massive Breakout Campaign. The Washington Nationals' approach to handling business this offseason was one that many people were surprised by. While no major splash was made, the roster has been improved with the addition of several veterans who will address the needs that existed. One of the areas general manager Mike Rizzo sought to improve was the starting pitching depth. With veterans Patrick Corbin and Trevor Williams hitting the market, MacKenzie Gore, who has 372.2 career innings on his resume, was the most experienced starter left. 12/08/24 | Washington Nationals Winter Meetings Mantra Should be to Spend Smart. It's something the Washington Nationals should heed as they prepare for the MLB winter meetings in Dallas this week. It took the Nationals several years, but their books are finally clean. The not-so-significant contracts of players like Patrick Corbin are off the books. Washington has a team so young that its financial footprint registers like a well-funded start-up. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/nationals/news/washington-n... |
11/25/24 | Washington Nationals Pitching Prospect Riding Wave to Potential Promotion. The Washington Nationals have one of the youngest starting rotations in baseball. The goal this offseason has to be finding some veteran leadership to replace Patrick Corbin and Trevor Williams. Well, don't tell that to Brad Lord, who may be in line to make the National's rotation even younger next season. The right-hander is seen by some as the next young starting pitcher in the organization after a meteoric rise last year that saw him get all the way to Triple-A Rochester. 11/24/24 | Why Signing Talented Infielder Makes Perfect Sense for Washington Nationals. The Washington Nationals are heading into free agency hoping to make some moves to help improve the franchise heading into 2025. It has been a tough few seasons for the Nationals, as the team has had to endure a lot of losing seasons since winning the World Series in 2019. Washington has been committed to the rebuilding process, and it has started to pay off with a lot of talented young players on the roster. The Nationals have done a good job of not spending long-term on free agents of late, and they recently saw the contract of Patrick Corbin come to a close. 11/15/24 | Washington Nationals Projected as Prime Candidate to Retain Veteran Pitcher. With free agency starting for the Washington Nationals, the franchise will be looking at multiple ways to improve their roster. In 2024, the Nationals won the same number of games (71) they did in 2023, but it certainly felt like an improved season for Washington. With a lot of young talent on the team, the Nationals have a bright future and it will be the job of the front office to capitalize on it. Pitcher Patrick Corbin came off the books at the end of the season. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/nationals/news/washington-n... |
