4/26/25 Concerns Mounting About Yankees' Paul Goldschmidt Amid Strange Start. Paul Goldschmidt's Yankees tenure is off to a bizarre beginning.

4/26/25 Yankees' Paul Goldschmidt hitting like DJ LeMahieu did in his prime. Try it free Have the Yankees unearthed prime DJ LeMahieu? While the actual LeMahieu is checking off boxes during a rehab assignment, the Yankees have received the same type of production — line drives smacked to all fields, few strikeouts and the second-most singles in baseball entering play — from an unlikely source. Paul Goldschmidt, who led the National League in home runs in 2013 and who crushed 35 homers as recently as 2022, might be reinventing himself. Emphasis on might because the sample size still is small

4/25/25 Former MVP Turning Back Clock in Career Renaissance With New York Yankees. Heading into the offseason, one of the positions that the New York Yankees knew they had to address was first base. The Yankees decided to snag Paul Goldschmidt away from the St. Louis Cardinals to replace him at first base on a one-year, $12.5 million deal. Not a major commitment by any means, but certainly still a risk given some of the decline that the 2022 National League MVP has shown over the last two seasons. After recording a .317/.404/.578 slash line during his MVP campaign, his numbers dropped to .268/.363/.447 the following year and were even worse in 2024 (.245/.302/.414).

4/23/25 Ex-Cardinal Goldschmidt impacting Yankees, ranks second in hits. The St. Louis Cardinals couldn't have been clearer when they announced they would not pursue their first baseman, Paul Goldschmidt, at the end of the 2024 season. Goldschmidt, who was a fan favorite during his six seasons in St. Louis, ended up signing with the New York Yankees, and despite being 37 years old, he's impacting the New York lineup by keeping it simple, and it's all coming with a low amount of power. Goldschmidt is finding holes and racking up base hits, thus playing a major role in putting the Bronx Bombers on the board. Including early on into Wednesday's afternoon game against the Cleveland Guardians, Goldschmidt is second behind mega star Aaron Judge in hits — Judge has 39, Goldschmidt has 35.

4/19/25 Ex-Cardinals Star's Hot Start Put Him In Yankees' Record Books. The St. Louis Cardinals opted to move on from Paul Goldschmidt this past offseason and likely couldn't have predicted how he would start this season. St. Louis moved Willson Contreras to first base and Goldschmidt landed a one-year deal with the New York Yankees.

4/18/25 Yankees' Paul Goldschmidt leads MLB in totally unexpected but impressive stat. Think of the first statistic that comes to mind for Paul Goldschmidt. Maybe it's home runs, or on-base percentage, or the surprising amount of steals swiped by the first baseman. But it'll take you a while before anyone guesses what statistic Goldschmidt leads baseball in. The answer: singles. Goldschmidt singled three more times Friday night in the Yankees' win. That gives him 22 singles on the season. It's one more than Miami's Xavier Edwards for the outright lead in MLB. Follow The Sporting News on WhatsApp Goldschmidt is a career .290 hitter, so the fact that he's off to a .373 start in the early small-sample size isn't totally crazy. But he's doing it in a totally unprecedented way as far

4/13/25 Yankees could regret contract decision on $182 million 32-HR infielder. The New York Yankees are off to a good start in a hopeful return to the World Series. The team has posted an 8-6 record that's strong enough for first place in the American League East division so far, with positive debuts from offseason acquisitions like Paul Goldschmidt and Max Fried. Oswaldo Cabrera has started nine of the Yankees' first games at third base, with nine hits and nine strikeouts thus far. Following Saturday's game against the San Francisco Giants in which Cabrera went one for four with two strikeouts, one of the best infielders in baseball revealed that he had almost joined the Yankees this past winter.

4/11/25 Yankees' Paul Goldschmidt quietly making instant impact: 'This is what we can expect'. When the Yankees signed Paul Goldschmidt over the offseason, there were some questions regarding what type of impact he could make at this point in his career. Then he endured the worst year of his career in 2024, hitting .245/.302/.414 with 22 home runs, 65 RBI and a 1.1 fWAR over 154 games for the Cardinals. With the Yankees' season now two weeks old, however, Goldschmidt has earned nothing but acclaim in the early going of his pinstriped career. “He's such a pro,” said Aaron Judge, who shared MVP honors with Goldschmidt in 2022.

4/10/25 Paul Goldschmidt has so far been exactly what Yankees were hoping for. Access the Yankees beat like never before Join Post Sports+ for exciting subscriber-only features, including real-time texting with Greg Joyce about the inside buzz on the Yankees. Try it free The Yankees knew they were getting a pro and a sturdy veteran when they signed Paul Goldschmidt. They hoped they were getting a productive offensive player, too, though that part was not as much of a given. The early returns have checked all the boxes. Through the first two weeks of the season, the 37-year-old first baseman has been one of the Yankees' most consistent hitters, providing an important presence in both the leadoff and cleanup spots, depending on where Aaron Boone slots him on a given day.

4/07/25 Cardinals Have Questions After Fan-Favorite's Red-Hot Yankees Start. Did the St. Louis Cardinals make the right call this past offseason opting to let Paul Goldschmidt walk in free agency? Goldschmidt spent the last six seasons with St. Louis and was great. Goldschmidt only made on All-Star team in his six years in St. Louis, but he was every bit what the team could've hoped for. The Cardinals wanted to get cheaper and opted to not bring him back and instead move Willson Contreras to first base opening the door for Iván Herrera and Pedro Pagés.

4/03/25 Cardinals Polarizing Decision With Legend Already Being Justified. The St. Louis Cardinals were fortunate to have Paul Goldschmidt as the team's first baseman over the last six years. While this is the case, the Cardinals already look like they made the right decision thanks in large part to 24-year-old catcher Iván Herrera. The Cardinals moving on from Goldschmidt opened first base for Willson Contreras which then opened up the everyday catcher role for Herrera.

4/02/25 Torpedo bat designer says it's more about players than model. The torpedo model — a striking design in which wood is moved lower down the barrel after the label and shapes the end a little like a bowling pin — became the talk of major league baseball over the weekend. The New York Yankees hit a team-record nine homers that traveled a combined 3,695 feet on Saturday. Paul Goldschmidt, Cody Bellinger, Austin Wells, Anthony Volpe and Jazz Chisholm Jr. all went deep using a torpedo bat.
