Over a year after he threw his final pitch for the Orioles, Kyle Gibson is still helping the young ballclub foster strong bonds in the clubhouse. Now with the St. Louis Cardinals, Gibson reached out to new Orioles reliever Andrew Kittredge shortly after he signed with them in free agency to shower praise on his former teammates. “I did talk to Gibby,” Kittredge said in a video news conference this week. The St. Louis Cardinals are one of the few teams left that hasn't made any significant free-agent signings this offseason and there are no signs of that changing anytime soon. Several former Cardinals players remain available, such as right-handed pitchers Kyle Gibson, Lance Lynn and Jack Flaherty but it's doubtful St. Louis will sign any starters this winter.

1/05/25 Cardinals Should Avoid Reunion With $13 Million Former All-Star. The St. Louis Cardinals appear to be taking a step back from contention in 2025 and will instead focus on youth. To a degree, St. Louis is rebuilding, though it isn't a complete teardown. Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch noted that if the Cardinals trade away some pitchers as a result of their rebuild, they could re-sign Kyle Gibson.

1/01/25 One Realistic Move For Cardinals To Poach Red Sox $7.5 Million Starter. The St. Louis Cardinals should add another starting pitcher before Spring Training gets here. 12/27/24 One Projected $16 Million Move Cardinals Could Make To Add All-Star. The St. Louis Cardinals have a lot of decisions to make about the starting rotation. St. Louis had to make two decisions early on and opted against picking up Kyle Gibson and Lance Lynn's club options for the 2025 season. At this point, everything is up in the air for the Cardinals.

10/16/24 Cardinals Could Be Prime Option For Underrated $13 Million All-Star. When considering moves the St. Louis Cardinals could make this winter, one has to keep in mind that the club already has indicated that it is looking to cut payroll. St. Louis will have some very difficult choices to make this winter, and some of the first will be deciding what to do with pitchers Kyle Gibson and Lance Lynn. Both have club options for the 2025 season and Gibson's contract would be $13 million, and Lynn's would be $11 million if picked up.

9/21/24 An option for Cardinals' 2025 rotation and influential presence, Kyle Gibson hopes for return. A glimpse into the conversations veteran Kyle Gibson had with his fellow Cardinals starters in the dugout on Friday night or is always game to have with a young pitcher in the clubhouse came after his start with the media in front of his locker. Gibson was willing to go pitch by pitch, hint by hint through a key at-bat vs. Cleveland's all-everything third baseman Jose Ramirez. “I'm not facing those guys again,” Gibson said. The duel ended with a solo homer, one of three the Guardians hit on their way to a 5-1 victory at Busch Stadium that officially, finally eliminated the Cardinals from playoff contention.
