The San Diego Padres placed veteran outfielder Jason Heyward on the 10-day injured list Saturday due to left knee inflammation and promoted outfielder Tirso Ornelas from Triple-A El Paso. The 35-year-old Heyward, who has batted .190 with one homer and six RBIs in 17 games this season, joins center fielders Jackson Merrill (right hamstring strain) and Brandon Lockridge (left hamstring strain) on the injured list. Heyward appeared in 11 consecutive games before needing to sit out Friday night to address his knee woes. 4/18/25 Padres Outfielder Scratched From Lineup With Injury. San Diego Padres outfielder Jason Heyward was scratched from Friday's lineup with left knee soreness. Oscar Gonzalez will get the start in left field and is batting sixth against the Houston Astros since Heyward is out. The 35-year-old has played in 17 games for the Padres this season. Heyward is slashing .190/.255/.286 with one home run and six runs batted in so far this season.

Fernando Tatis Jr. and Jason Heyward homered Saturday night and Kyle Hart tossed six scoreless innings as the San Diego Padres improved to 9-0 at home with a 2-0 shutout of the Colorado Rockies. Hart (2-0) allowed just one hit, a one-out double in the fourth inning by Kyle Farmer, and walked none while fanning four. It was a 180-degree turn from his last start on Sunday, when he walked four and allowed five runs, failing to make it out of the first inning at the Chicago Cubs.

The San Diego Padres reached an agreement with free-agent and former Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Jason Heyward Friday, according to Dennis Lin of The Athletic. Heyward is expected to share left-field duties with fellow veteran Connor Joe, who also finalized a deal earlier on Friday. In 63 games before his release, he hit .211/.288/.412 with six home runs for the Dodgers.

The San Diego Padres are working to solve their outfield depth problem by agreed to a deal with former Chicago Cubs star Jason Heyward, per a report in The Athletic. The report also noted the Padres are working to sign another outfielder, Connor Joe. Heyward played for the Cubs from 2016-2022, after which he migrated to the Dodgers for the 2023 season. Since he left Chicago, his production has been up-and-down.

The San Diego Padres have added a veteran presence to their outfield, agreeing to a deal with former Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves outfielder Jason Heyward.
