Veteran pitcher Rich Hill is a 20-year big league veteran and will be 45 years old by the time the 2025 Major League Baseball season gets here. While this is the case, it doesn't sound like he's ready to hang his cleats up and he wants to pitch one more year, according to MLB Network's Jon Morosi. "Rich Hill, 44, said to me this week that he wants to pitch in 2025," Morosi said.

11/21/24 Boston Red Sox Veteran Rich Hill Eying Return to MLB Entering Age 45 Season. Rich Hill wants to keep pitching in 2025, MLB Network's Jon Morosi reported Thursday. Hill, who is set to turn 45 years old in March, is currently with Team USA at the WBSC Premier 12 tournament in Japan. Hill has yet to give up an earned run in his 10.1 innings of action in Japan this month, all while boasting a 0.677 WHIP and 12.2 strikeouts per nine innings. With that kind of production still on the table, it figures that MLB teams will be interested in giving Hill another chance.

Just 13 days after 44-year-old Rich Hill kicked off his fourth stint for his hometown team, the Red Sox announced they had released the left-handed pitcher on Monday after he was designated for assignment on Friday to make room for Luis Guerrero from Triple-A Worcester. Hill made four appearances for the Red Sox after signing a minor-league deal with the Boston on Aug. 16.

Hill was emotional when he left the mound for the night, and he'll be a relied-upon veteran as Boston fell to 3 1/2 games for the final American League wild-card spot after Thursday's loss to the Toronto Blue Jays at Fenway Park.
