3/21/25 Cards get a double loss in spring training, beaten by Astros 3-2, Mets 5-3. Based entirely on their performances this spring, it would be easy to identify which Cardinals pitcher should get the assignment to start next week's season-opener against the Twins. Pitcher B's spring training ended on Friday as well with another dud, giving up five runs in 4 2/3 innings against the Astros and two more home runs. If you have been following along all spring, you easily could determine that Pitcher A was Michael McGreevy and Pitcher B was Sonny Gray.

3/06/25 Michael McGreevy eager to prove he belongs in Cardinals’ rotation. With spring training nearing its midpoint, the St. Louis Cardinals haven't fully committed to a starting rotation for the new season just yet. Experience will likely lead the way, though rookie Michael McGreevy is doing his part to push for a big-league starting role.

2/26/25 Yankees beat Cardinals 7-0 in spring training game. As the Cardinals evaluate candidates should a spot open up in their starting rotation this spring, Michael McGreevy showed again on Wednesday that he wants to be somewhere in the mix. McGreevy got the start against the Yankees in Tampa and all he did was retire all six batters he faced, striking out two. It was a rougher game for Tink Hence, another of the Cardinals top pitching prospects. The Cardinals fell to 1-4 to start the spring.

2/21/25 What live looks vs. lefties showed Michael McGreevy about his cutter: Cardinals Extra. After falling behind in the count to Cardinals catching prospect Jimmy Crooks during a session of live batting practice on Friday, Cardinals pitching prospect Michael McGreevy was provided with a “learning lesson” on how he and the cutter he added last season can limit damage against left-handed hitters. A powerful swing from Crooks served as the lecture. In a 3-1 count to Crooks, McGreevy placed a cutter middle-and-up in the strike zone to the left-handed hitting catcher.

10/11/24 Why Cardinals chased this statistic to take step in pitcher development, with strides yet to go. Three batters into his final start of May for Class AAA Memphis, Cardinals prospect Michael McGreevy had already thrown 22 pitches before he coaxed a second out, and he was about to load the bases by allowing a line-drive single on a slider, his 23rd pitch. Within a few months, McGreevy would reach the majors as a revelation, challenging big-league lineups with a new pitch and beginning his audition to be part of the Cardinals' 2025 rotation. The majors seemed far away as the right-hander stood in the midst of a taxed pitch count, packed bases, and an ERA inflating toward 6.00, still in the first inning. Nashville emptied the bases with a triple on McGreevy's 28th pitch.

With a rookie-record outing from Michael McGreevy, the St. Louis Cardinals completed the 2024 regular season with a 6-1 victory Sunday afternoon against the Giants at Oracle Park. 9/25/24 Gen-Z rally to topple Rockies highlights Cardinals' youth movement simmering all summer. About two weeks ago when he remained in Class AAA Memphis and the Cardinals promoted prospect Thomas Saggese to be a part of the closing weeks of the season, pitcher Michael McGreevy talked to his family about why the move made so much sense. “Super-smart thing to do, to get him experience – he's part of the future here,” McGreevy recalled saying. The right-hander was asked if he told his family it would be super-smart for the Cardinals to do the same for him.
