The New England Patriots got Drake Maye some offensive line help with the fourth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, selecting LSU offensive tackle Will Campbell. Shortly after the interview of Campbell speaking passionately of protecting Maye went viral, the Patriots quarterback shared his appreciation for his new teammate on social media. “Love this guy already,” Maye wrote in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, with a fire emoji. Unfortunately, it was pretty much the only thing the Patriots did correctly last offseason. Not only did New England strike out in free agency, but it did a horrendous job of cashing in on its other draft picks, which resulted in the Pats having arguably the least talented roster in the NFL in 2024. Perhaps one of the Patriots' most puzzling decisions last April was selecting quarterback Joe Milton III in the sixth round of the draft, even though they took Maye a couple of days earlier. The New England Patriots still need to find someone to protect Drake Maye, but after that, they could afford to make a couple of luxury picks. Hunter Henry has been great throughout his tenure with the franchise, serving as a reliable target for young quarterbacks like Mac Jones, Bailey Zappe and Drake Maye. Austin Hooper was great in his limited role last season and was brought back to solidify the position for at least one more season. 4/17/25	Deuce's Mock Draft 2.0: Patriots Fortify the Trenches with Campbell, Add Playmakers and Depth. The 2025 NFL Draft finally arrives next week, and with it comes the opportunity for the Patriots to build upon a productive free agency period by stacking some young promising talent onto the depth chart, hopefully at the team's biggest positions of need. Once again, the assumption here for mock drafting purposes is that both Penn State's Abdul Carter and Colorado's Travis Hunter will be off the board, and in this scenario, the Patriots cannot find a trade partner to allow them to drop down a few spots and pick up even more capital. Last time I took a big swing on Ashton Jeanty, a running back whose selection might've gone against modern wisdom at the position, but it's one I believe would make an instant and unmistakable impact on Drake Maye's development and the offense as a whole.
