4/03/25 Scott leads Cardinals? More Devers woes? Don't be surprised. Eric Karabell is a senior writer for fantasy baseball, football and basketball at ESPN. Eric is a charter member of FSWA Hall of Fame and author of "The Best Philadelphia Sports Arguments". St. Louis Cardinals OF Victor Scott II was supposed to be a relevant fantasy option last season, but alas, hitting a baseball isn't so easy and the noted speedster struggled to get on base.

3/24/25 Cardinals Starting Lineup Will Leave Off At Least 1 Key Piece. The St. Louis Cardinals have already announced that Victor Scott II will be with the team on Opening Day as the team's starting center fielder. Scott has been phenomenal throughout Spring Training and this will allow the team to take at least a small step toward the youth movement the team likely hoped it would have this year. While this is the case, now there are going to be decisions to be made about the starting lineup on Opening Day. When Opening Day gets here on March 27th, Willson Contreras will be at first base, Masyn Winn will be at shortstop, Nolan Arenado will be at third base, Scott will be in center field, and Iván Herrera likely will be catching.

3/24/25 Cardinals Still Have One Lingering Major Roster Question. The St. Louis Cardinals have started to finalize the active roster for Opening Day. One that has stood out is the fact that the team announced on Sunday that Victor Scott II made the team as St. Louis' starting center fielder. One thing that was surprising, though, is the team also made it clear that Micheal Siani also made the roster. The Cardinals have a surplus of outfielders with Scott, Lars Nootbaar, Michael Siani, Jordan Walker as well as Brendan Donovan and Alec Burleson.

3/23/25 Cardinals Make Final Decision On Red-Hot 24-Year-Old. The St. Louis Cardinals have been trying to make a decision on the outfield in recent weeks and it sounds like they have. The center field job has been up for grabs throughout Spring Training so far. Victor Scott II, Michael Siani, and Lars Nootbaar were all in the mix for the everyday job. Entering camp, it seemed like Siani or Nootbaar would be the everyday guy but Scott was the most impressive of the trio throughout camp.

3/20/25 Cardinals Last-Second Roster Prediction Ahead Of Opening Day. The St. Louis Cardinals' roster is pretty stable right now. St. Louis brought a good chunk of the 2024 roster back so there aren't too many big decisions that need to be made. The two biggest questions swirling around the team right now are about the starting rotation and center field. For center field, Victor Scott II, Michael Siani, and Lars Nootbaar have been in the mix for center field.

3/18/25 Victor Scott, Luken Baker make compelling cases for Opening Day roster. Two young hitters, Victor Scott II and Luken Baker, are turning heads with their bats this spring. Both are making a compelling case to break camp with the St. Louis Cardinals' big-league club, even with stiff competition up top.

3/12/25 Despite Mikolas' best start of spring training, Cardinals fall 2-0 to Mets. The Cardinals were able to do that in the ninth inning on Wednesday. After Victor Scott II led off the inning with a single and stole second, Luken Baker came off the bench to pinch-hit following a Michael Siani strikeout. The Cardinals have been trying to find spots like this for Baker during the spring, knowing that if he is on the team, he could very well find himself in exactly that situation.

3/08/25 Cardinals' Victor Scott II dripping with confidence ahead of 2025 season. The St. Louis Cardinals are not expected to have a standout season in 2025, but that does not mean there are not bright spots for the club. 24-year-old outfielder Victor Scott II has been making the most of his opportunity to show out at spring training. Scott has impressed Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol with his play this spring. “We're seeing a different player right now than we saw last spring,” Marmol said via MLB.com.

2/27/25 Arenado's 3-run homer leads Cardinals to 8-4 spring training win over Marlins. Victor Scott II arrived in spring training earlier this month with a different mindset than he had a year ago. Scott described how he was “excited” to be with the Cardinals a year ago versus “wanting to stay here” this spring. Scott's hunger was on display on Thursday in the Cardinals' win over the Marlins.

12/19/24 Tampa Bay Rays Top Prospect Made History on Bases in 2024. With the calendar year of 2024 winding down, it's time to take a look back at some of the biggest accomplishments of the year. For the Tampa Bay Rays, one of the biggest organizational accomplishments was the pure dominance of top prospect Chandler Simpson. The No. 70 overall pick in the 2022 Draft became the first Minor Leaguer to eclipse the century mark in steals since 2012 with his performance at High-A Bowling Green and Double-A Montgomery. Unlike in 2023, when Simpson tied his friend Victor Scott II atop the MiLB leaderboard with 94 each, no one was all that close to him this year.

9/10/24 Cardinals call up prospect, MVP and trade deadline gem Thomas Saggese to assist infield. In need of an assist for their infield, the Cardinals are turning to a prospect and in return he'll get a head start on making an impression for 2025. Thomas Saggese, the headliner of the Cardinals' trade-deadline acquisitions in 2023, will be promoted to the majors ahead of Tuesday night's game at Busch Stadium against the Cincinnati Reds. The Cardinals made room on the roster later in the afternoon by optioning center fielder Victor Scott II to Class AAA Memphis. Saggese will start at shortstop on Tuesday night in his MLB debut.

9/02/24 How rookie Victor Scott II is getting up to speed — and can use his more, too: Cardinals Extra. While playing time has the potential to slow considerably for rookie Victor Scott II in the coming weeks, the Cardinals have an idea to use his time out of the present lineup to get up to speed on the ways his “elite” skill should propel future lineups. “You can't have him up here if there's not a deliberate plan for development while he's here,” manager Oliver Marmol said. Scott, the Cardinals' opening day center fielder when he dashed out of spring and into the lineup due to injuries ahead of him, spent the past month as the Cardinals' starter again in center. The return Monday of Michael Siani from an oblique strain meant the Cardinals plan to start him “the bulk of the time” in center, displacing Scott for the time being into a part-time role.

8/22/24 Scott has three hits to spark the Cardinals to 3-0 victory over the Brewers. Rookie Victor Scott II had three hits and scored the run that snapped a scoreless tie in the seventh, leading the St. Louis Cardinals to a 3-0 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday. Masyn Winn and Alec Burleson each added two hits apiece in the nine-hit attack for St. Louis. The Cardinals won the final two games to take the series after losing seven of their previous nine games. The Central Division-leading Brewers had won six consecutive games before the consecutive losses to the second-place Cardinals, who still trail Milwaukee by 10 games. Milwaukee recorded just three hits, with only one after the first inning.

8/10/24 Victor Scott II's double just one of many critical plays in Cardinals comeback win in KC. The three-run margin of victory doesn't convey just how many potential pivot points the Cardinals willed in their favor on Friday night against their cross-state, interleague rivals. With two outs in the eighth inning, the Cardinals trailed the Kansas City Royals by a run. Victor Scott II waited in the on-deck circle to find out the result of the video replay review. Scott got his shot with two runners on, two outs, and the Cardinals trailing by a run.

8/08/24 Former Mountaineer Scott finds his rhythm, hitting first big league blast. Former Mountaineer Victor Scott II had a rough start to the season. Scott made the St. Louis Cardinals' opening day roster but only collected five hits through his first 20 games. Scott had over 300 plate appearances in AAA this season, hitting .219 with six home runs, 29 RBIs, and 29 stolen bases.
