8/15/25 White Sox activate Chase Meidroth, designate Jacob Amaya ahead of Royals series. The Chicago White Sox reinstated infielder Chase Meidroth from the 10-day injured list and designated infielder Jacob Amaya for assignment ahead of Friday's series opener against the Kansas City Royals. Meidroth, 24, had been sidelined since Aug. 7, retroactive to Aug. 4, with a right thumb contusion sustained when he was hit by a pitch from Philadelphia's Taijuan Walker on July 30. The rookie is batting .252 with a .330 on-base percentage and .319 slugging percentage in 84 games this season, with 12 doubles, three home runs, 15 RBIs, 36 runs scored and 11 stolen bases. Amaya, 26, has appeared in 37 games for Chicago across two stints this season, hitting .106 with eight RBIs and seven runs scored.

The Chicago White Sox placed rookie shortstop Chase Meidroth on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a right thumb contusion ahead of their series finale against the Seattle Mariners. Meidroth, who is hitting .252 with three home runs, 15 RBIs and 11 stolen bases, said he will be shut down from swinging for "a few days." Also Thursday, Chicago selected the contract of shortstop Jacob Amaya from Triple-A Charlotte and designated right-handed pitcher Gus Varland for assignment.

7/31/25 Chicago White Sox Provide Injury Update On Chase Meidroth. White Sox rookie Chase Meidroth grimaced in pain after an 89.6 mph sinker from Taijuan Walker hit his right thumb in the fifth inning of Wednesday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies at Rate Field. Meidroth was evaluated on the field by White Sox staff, but remained in the game to run the bases. Going into the top half of the sixth inning, though, Lenyn Sosa replaced Meidroth at second base. Manager Will Venable provided an update postgame.

Chase Meidroth, Colson Montgomery, Austin Slater and Mike Tauchman homered and Adrian Houser pitched effectively into the seventh inning as the host Chicago White Sox routed the Chicago Cubs 12-5 on Friday. Winners of six of seven since the All-Star break, the White Sox collected 18 hits, including seven for extra bases. Cubs starter Shota Imanaga (7-4) matched the shortest outing of his major league career, surrendering seven runs and 12 hits in three-plus innings.

7/22/25 Chase Meidroth Has Career Night As Chicago White Sox Extend Win Streak. Chase Meidroth began July on a 5-for-40 (.125) stretch going into the All-Star break. "I attribute it a lot to just the grind," White Sox manager WIll Venable said Monday. Over the last week, Meidroth made a few mechanical changes with the White Sox hitting coaches and said he feels really good now. Finishing 4-for-5 with a run scored, it marked his first game with multiple extra-base hits, and he became the sixth White Sox rookie in team history with a three-double game and first since Harold Baines on April 20, 1980.

Chase Meidroth's red hot start was encouraging to Chicago White Sox fans, but a terrible June and July have put things back into perspective. Meidroth was thrown right into the deep end of the pool upon being traded to the Sox in December, and he has been swimming more than sinking — floating with hitting .300. Meidroth, a Southern California native, was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 2022.

Through his first 45 games, that has still been a strength for the 23-year-old rookie, who the White Sox acquired in December as part of the Garrett Crochet trade, Among all MLB hitters with at least 180 plate appearances, Meidroth ranks 22nd in batting average (.296), 17th in on-base percentage (.385), and is in the 87th percentile or better in strikeout percentage, walk rate, whiff percentage and chase percentage. The White Sox knew what kind of hitter they were getting with Meidroth, who posted similar numbers throughout his minor league career and time at the University of San Diego.
