4/25/25 San Francisco Giants Infielder's Struggles Hard to Interpret in Early Season. The San Francisco Giants are on an absolute heater to open the 2025 season, putting together a 17-9 record through the first few series, and proving they have what it takes to compete in an extremely strong National League West. With three teams having 16 or more wins in the division, things are going to get extremely intriguing over the summer stretch of the season, and when the postseason rolls around, there may be multiple teams making it from there. The Giants have been led by impressive performances from Jung Hoo Lee, Tyler Fitzgerald, Mike Yastrzemski, Logan Webb, and others.

4/18/25 Giants notes: Key adjustment leads Chapman to big series vs. Phillies. Tyler Fitzgerald finally broke out this week, capping a big series against the Philadelphia Phillies with a solo homer in the ninth inning Thursday. Matt Chapman hit a two-run homer earlier in Thursday's loss and picked up three straight multi-hit games for the first time as a Giant. Over four days, Chapman raised his OPS from .687 to .803.

4/17/25 Giants Fans Share Concerns About the Idea of Barry Bonds Becoming the Team's Hitting Coach. Tyler Fitzgerald has turned around his swing thanks to a recent meeting with the Giants' legend

4/17/25 How Barry Bonds helped Giants find a breakout star at the plate. Tyler Fitzgerald's turnaround at the plate has been one of the more welcome developments for the surging San Francisco Giants — and he has one of baseball's greatest hitters to thank. Last week, while the Giants were back at Oracle Park, Fitzgerald got a hands-on hitting lesson from none other than Barry Bonds. Eliminate the tendency to drop the barrel — a habit that had plagued Fitzgerald during a rough start to the season. Since that conversation, Fitzgerald has looked like a completely different hitter.

4/16/25 The Phillies are who we thought they were. The best thing about spring training is that it gives you a month and a half to pretend that things aren't exactly as they seem. The Phillies entered Tuesday's game one game above .500 and had scored 10 runs in five games while guys like Tyler Fitzgerald treat Citizens Bank Park like Barry Bonds did the Vet. The Dodgers (12-6), Mets (11-5), and Padres (14-3) are all on pace to win at least 108 games. Is it time to panic about the Phillies?

4/14/25 Giants stay hot, win opener in Philadelphia. Tyler Fitzgerald drove in three runs and finished a single shy of the cycle as the San Francisco Giants posted a 10-4 road victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday in the opener of a four-game series. Mike Yastrzemski also finished with three RBIs for San Francisco, which has won four of its last five games. Willy Adames chipped in two hits and a home run in support of Landen Roupp (1-1), who gave up four runs and six hits over five innings with eight strikeouts.

4/07/25 New San Francisco Giants Trade Idea Lands All-Star Second Baseman After Hot Start. The San Francisco Giants have been red-hot to start 2025, but one position is still lagging behind. After his breakout campaign in 2024, hopes were high that Tyler Fitzgerald could solve the second base issue for the Giants. Fitzgerald has a .167/.231/.208 slash line with an OPS+ of just 26 so far. It is a small sample size, but that is bottom-five for players at the position with at least 20 plate appearances so far this season.

3/01/25 SF Giants' Fitzgerald embracing new role as starting second baseman. Tyler Fitzgerald used three types of gloves last season. “We saw last year, when he got an opportunity to play in one spot, he did his best work,” said manager Bob Melvin. A year ago, Fitzgerald had 10 lone major-league games to his name, having yet to prove anything of substance at the big league level. Over the summer, he made history that landed his name next to Barry Bonds.

9/28/24 Fitzgerald scores from 1st on throwing error by Liberatore in 8th as Giants beat Cardinals 6-5. Tyler Fitzgerald reached on an infield single and scored the eventual winning run in the eighth inning on a throwing error by St. Louis pitcher Matthew Liberatore, leading the San Francisco Giants to a 6-5 win over the Cardinals. The Cardinals rallied with three runs in the seventh inning to tie the game at 5. In the bottom of the eighth, Fitzgerald singled off the leg of Liberatore (3-4). He scored when Brett Wisley dropped down a two-out bunt that Liberatore fielded and threw wildly toward first base, allowing Fitzgerald to score from first. Paul Goldschmidt and Brendan Donovan each had three hits and two RBIs in the loss.

9/09/24 San Francisco Giants Dugout Altercation Raises Cause for Concern. The San Francisco Giants had a very successful weekend series against the San Diego Padres. In the team's 7-6 win on Sunday, shortstop Tyler Fitzgerald and second baseman Marco Luciano both were moving into the outfield on a pop-up. It was the start of what could have been an ugly scene had third base coach Matt Williams not intervened once voices were raised and things got heated in the dugout. It was a microcosm of what the Giants are dealing with down the stretch of the season.

9/08/24 Melvin, Giants infielders address ‘unacceptable' miscommunication. Bob Melvin, Tyler Fitzgerald and Marco Luciano all spoke candidly about a misplay Sunday and the subsequent exchange in the dugout.

9/04/24 Fitzgerald seventh-inning single breaks up Diamondbacks' bid for no-hitter against Giants. Tyler Fitzgerald singled off reliever Kevin Ginkel leading off the seventh inning to end the Arizona Diamondbacks' bid for a no-hitter Wednesday night. Fitzgerald, one of San Francisco's best hitters this season, singled on an 0-1 pitch from Ginkel, who relieved Zac Gallen after the starter threw 100 pitches over six innings.

8/22/24 San Francisco Giants Rookie Slugger One of Hottest Hitters in Baseball. The San Francisco Giants remain on the fringes of the National League wild card race. At 65-64, they are only 3.5 games behind for the third and final wild card spot that is currently held by the Atlanta Braves. The Giants blew a golden opportunity to cut into that lead last week when they lost three out of four games to the Braves. If they are going to make a late-season push, they will need to find some help for Tyler Fitzgerald in the lineup.

8/17/24 San Francisco Giants Rookie Looks to Right Wrongs vs. Athletics on Saturday. The San Francisco Giants were able to break their losing streak on Friday against the Atlanta Braves and will look to start a winning streak as they start a two-game series with the Oakland Athletics on Saturday night. The Giants lost four games in a row before Friday's win. If San Francisco can take advantage of an Athletics squad that has the third-worst record in MLB with a sweep, they'll be feeling much better about their odds. Tyler Fitzgerald has continued to be a huge source of offense for the team through their struggles, so they will be looking to him to keep the hits coming.

8/13/24 Giants try something new as offense struggles on ‘frustrating' night. Manager Bob Melvin's decision to have Tyler Fitzgerald bunt in the Giants' loss to the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday shows how much pressure San Francisco is feeling at the plate.

8/10/24 Tyler Fitzgerald: Up-And-Coming Dynasty Player. For most of the season, my look into Up-and-Coming Dynasty Players has obviously tended to feature young players who have upside. That said, I have mostly shied away from Top 100 prospects who are now in the majors. Why? Well, if you are a veteran dynasty player or even new to this level of fantasy baseball, you should know about those players. There is a reason why they are listed as Top 100 prospects - they are expected to be very good. This week I continue to avoid a top prospect who is now in the majors. But I am taking a left turn when it comes to highlighting a young player. That is because Tyler Fitzgerald is not a young player. Fitzgerald is 26 years old and turns 27 in September. Fitzgerald has also never been a Top 100 prospect nor a Top 10 prospect in the San Francisco organization.  So why do I think Fitzgerald is an Up-and-Coming Dynasty Player? Because sometimes players are late bloomers. And sometimes it is imperative to have depth on your team. Fitzgerald fits both of those categories.

8/03/24 SF Giants' Tyler Fitzgerald named National League Rookie of the Month for July. SAN FRANCISCO — After his scorching-hot July, Tyler Fitzgerald was rewarded Saturday with National League Rookie of the Month honors. The 26-year-old shortstop hit .321 (17-for-53) with eight home runs, two doubles, one triple, 15 RBI and 13 runs scored, leading NL rookies in batting average, home runs and on-base percentage while ranking among the top five in RBIs, slugging percentage, triples, runs scored and walks. Fitzgerald, a fourth-round draft pick out of Louisville in 2020, became the first Giants rookie to earn the honor since Luis Gonzalez in May 2022. He has only continued his hot hitting since the calendar turned to August, contributing three hits and his 10th home run of the season
