4/08/25 Texas Rangers OF Evan Carter dodges serious injury after taking pitch off his left hand. Texas Rangers outfielder Evan Carter appears to have avoided serious injury after being hit by a pitch while squaring to bunt in Triple-A Round Rock's game Tuesday. In the eighth inning of the Express' eventual 16-3 loss to Oklahoma City of the Los Angeles Dodgers organization, Carter, who was 0 for 3 with a walk, tried to bunt against lefty Joe Jacques, but the pitch instead hit him and was called a foul. Carter exited the game with trainers and later had imagery done on the hand that showed no fracture. It's possible he could miss another game, too, based on residual soreness, but the Rangers don't believe the issue will keep him out for any significant amount of time.

4/07/25 Texas Rangers face balancing act as they rehab Evan Carter's confidence at Triple-A. Evan Carter closed out the weekend with his most Evan Carter-like performance of the season. Playing for Triple-A Round Rock, Carter walked three times and had a single in his other plate appearance Sunday against Toledo. It was, however, just the second hit Carter has had in 19 at-bats to start the season. Despite the slow start with his batting average, Carter is showing more discipline at the plate and has six walks in five games, but his whiff rate is at 40.6% and his average exit velocity, an indicator of quality of contact, is only 89.3 mph.

3/25/25 Texas Rangers OF Evan Carter not on opening day roster, will start year in Triple-A. Evan Carter will not be on the opening day roster for the Texas Rangers, president of baseball operations Chris Young said Tuesday. The outfielder was one of a handful of familiar names who learned their fates for the beginning of the new season. Joining Carter at Triple-A Round Rock will be Dane Dunning, who was recently placed on waivers, while fellow outfielder Kevin Pillar, a veteran signed early this spring, will be in uniform when the Rangers face the Boston Red Sox at Globe Life Field on Thursday.

3/11/25 Texas Rangers, Bruce Bochy opting for quantity over quality when it comes to Evan Carter. SURPRISE, Ariz. — Evan Carter needs at-bats against left-handed pitching . 3/01/25 The most interesting position battle is Evan Carter and Leody Taveras for center field. Evan Carter (the youngster who missed more than two-thirds of last season with a lower back injury) and Leody Taveras (the incumbent on the verge of his theoretical prime) make up the single most interesting individual position battle in camp. Carter has largely played left field during his brief major league tenure but profiles well at center. Taveras has started at center in each of the last two seasons but had the sixth-lowest on base plus slugging percentage among qualified big league hitters last season.

2/26/25 What sport would Texas Rangers outfielder Evan Carter play if he wasn't in pro baseball?. The Texas Rangers have been in Arizona for over a week now and spring training is in full swing. Rangers youngster Evan Carter stopped by “GBag Nation” on 105.3 The Fan (KRLD-FM) recently where he discussed his 2025 season and also received a good deal of non-baseball questions, including one about which sport he'd be playing if he hadn't so quickly found his calling for baseball -- remember, he was helping lead the Rangers to the World Series just a couple weeks after his 21st birthday. 2/13/25 MLB Insider: New Texas Rangers Slugger Top Under the Radar Trade. Throughout the offseason, a consensus has formed that the Texas Rangers are one of the MLB teams most likely take a huge step forward from 2024 to 2025. That notion has been fueled by things like the possibility for health of ace Jacob deGrom, the development of young stars Evan Carter and Wyatt Langford and bounce back seasons from hitters like Marcus Semien, Adolis Garcia and Jonah Heim. But there are potentially impactful newcomers on the way too, as Chris Young made some key additions to improve the team's depth and address some of the weaknesses that held the team back from defending its 2023 World Series title. One of those additions caught the eye of former Washington Nationals and Cincinnati

2/08/25 Rangers Position Preview: Outfield can be strength for Texas in 2025. Much like the rest of the team, there was a significant buzz in the air surrounding the outfield for the Texas Rangers heading into the 2024 season. With Evan Carter having made a massive impact for Texas in such a short time following his debut in September 2023, where he made a very loud mark on the baseball world as the No. 3 hitter for the Rangers in the World Series just a month after he arrived, a lot of stock was put in Carter becoming a staple in left field and at the top of the lineup. Meanwhile, right fielder Adolis Garcia was fresh off nearly single-handedly ending the Houston Astros in his 2023 ALCS MVP turn and Wyatt Langford, drafted just months earlier No. 4 overall, was set to debut as a leading Rookie of the year candidate. Outfield was an area where Texas had some of its easiest roster decisions to start the 2024 season.

2/04/25 Three Texas Rangers Bullpen Non-Roster Invitees to Watch This Spring. Texas Rangers manager Bruce Bochy says that for any team to be successful, there must be a surprise or two. Back in 2023, when the Rangers won the World Series, those surprises included the late emergence of rookie outfielder Evan Carter and the postseason performance of Josh Sborz, who ended the regular season in a slump and dealing with an injury. In that vein, there is no area of the team where the Rangers could use a few surprises more than the bullpen, which is being completely rebuilt this season. While the players on the 40-man roster have track records, there are three pitchers on the non-roster invitee list worth watching.

12/03/24 Texas Rangers Rising Star Named Potential Rookie of Year Candidate. The Texas Rangers had two potential rookie of the year candidates last season in Evan Carter and Wyatt Langford. Carter battled injuries most of the year and Langford struggled at times before a solid finish to the season that saw him earn a few votes in in AL Rookie of the Year voting, an award won by New York Yankees pitcher Luis Gil. The fact that a pitcher won the award could bode well for the Rangers' potential candidate for the award in 2025 — Kumar Rocker.

10/09/24 Texas Rangers Optimistic Young Outfielder Evan Carter Has Put Lower Back Injury Behind Him. Few Texas Rangers players had a more frustrating 2024 season than Evan Carter. It was also nerve-wracking for the young rookie poised for his first full Major League season after bursting on the scene in the 2023 postseason. Carter, who turned 22 in August, played his last game on May 26. In that 40-game span, Carter had six homers, 13 doubles, and 18 RBI.

8/05/24 Back injury robs Evan Carter of chance to follow up on remarkable debut with Rangers. Evan Carter never really had a chance to follow up on a remarkable debut that helped the Texas Rangers on their way to a World Series title last year. A slow start turned into a nagging lumbar strain in his back, which ultimately led to general manager Chris Young's recent revelation that Carter was unlikely to return in what was supposed to be the outfielder's first full season in the majors. Carter reached base in all 17 of the Rangers' postseason games last year, hitting .300 with a postseason record nine doubles.

8/04/24 He tried to return. Now, Texas Rangers rookie Evan Carter has reached acceptance stage. Evan Carter tried and tried again. Now, with the understanding that his first full major league season is all but certainly over, he's reached the acceptance stage. “I don't know if 'lying to yourself' is the right word for it,” the Texas Rangers' rookie outfielder said Sunday. The 21-year-old has been sidelined since May with a stress reaction/lumbar sprain in his lower back, and according to general manager Chris Young, the Rangers are “not overly optimistic” that the he will return in the regular season.

General manager Chris Young said Tuesday that Carter has seen several specialists in the past week who determined the 21-year-old needs a lengthy period of rest without rotational activity in his back.
