4/21/25 Cardinals Urged To Make Extremely Difficult Roster Decision. The St. Louis Cardinals are just days away from likely having to make a difficuly decision. Masyn Winn is eligible to be activated off the Injured List on April 22nd after being placed on the Injured List due to back spasms. When he ultimately is activated, the Cardinals are going to have to send someone down to the minors and the player who seems like the most obvious option is infielder Thomas Saggese.

4/20/25 MLB Writer Notably 'Worried' About Young Cardinals Star. The St. Louis Cardinals are in a bit of a rebuilding year as they look to transition from an older roster to a younger core. Masyn Winn and Jordan Walker are two of the youngsters that the Cardinals would love to see take big steps forward, but it doesn't seem like that's the way they're trending. Josh Jacobs of Redbird Rants recently noted that he was worried about the aforementioned Walker. "Walker has seen an uptick in his average (.239) and on-base percentage (.299), but his slugging percentage is at an all-time low (.338), ultimately still grading out as a well below-average hitter this year (84 wRC+)," Jacobs wrote.

4/18/25 Cardinals Rising Star Could Be Days Away From St. Louis Return. The St. Louis Cardinals have been without the services of Masyn Winn since April 11th but it sounds like he's almost back. Winn was forced to leave the April 11th contest against the Philadelphia Phillies due to back spasms. Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported on Friday that Winn's gearing up for rehab assignment on Friday and could return as soon as next week if all goes well. "Cardinals shortstop Masyn Winn will move a step closer Friday to returning to the lineup, along with a plan to keep him in it," Goold said.

4/17/25 Cardinals' infield dilemma: Saggese shining as Winn nears return. St. Louis Cardinals shortstop Masyn Winn is expected to be activated from the injured list next Tuesday, April 22. Saggese, who saw some time in the big leagues last year, was called up from Triple-A Memphis earlier this month when fellow infielder Norman Gorman went down with a hamstring injury. Since then, Saggese has seen time at both second base and shortstop, and he's been heating up both in the field and at the plate as one of the most impactful players in the lineup. Heading into Thursday's game against the New York Mets, Saggese is batting .455 with 10 hits, 5 RBIs and 1 home run with 22 at-bats in nine games.

4/12/25 Cardinals beat Phillies 2–1; Here is how Friday night's game broke down:. When Masyn Winn had to come out of the game in the first inning on Friday night because of back spasms, it necessitated a series of changes to the lineup – which turned out to help the Cardinals win the series opener against the Phillies at Busch Stadium. Because Brendan Donovan was serving as the DH, the Cardinals had to move Thomas Saggese from second base to shortstop – and Pedro Pages had to move from catching to play second base.

The St. Louis Cardinals are hopeful that fan favorite Masyn Winn will follow in Hall of Fame shortstop Ozzie Smith's footsteps in becoming one of the franchise's all-time infielders. 1/03/25 Masyn Winn, 2025 Fantasy Baseball Sleeper.

So, I don’t love giving 1st basemen as sleepers, because I believe you need to draft a top one. Why? If everyone in your league has a great 1st baseman, it does not help you to have a lousy one. Très simple, as they say in Frenchlish class. Please, blog, may I have some more?

10/08/24 Hochman: 'He makes it fun.' Ozzie Smith praises Cardinals SS Masyn Winn (with an intriguing comp). He's a humble wizard, and when Ozzie Smith greeted me Monday at the 19th hole, he was dressed conservatively in a gray quarter zip. At the 2024 Ozzie & Friends Pro Am, in association with the PGA REACH Gateway Foundation, Smith described Masyn Winn the way St. Louisans once described the Hall of Fame shortstop.
