8/16/25 3 prospects Rangers must promote as rosters expand for 2025 stretch run. Unfortunately for Rangers manager Bruce Bochy, his team was on the wrong end of an offensive masterclass. Instead of getting back to .500, Texas falls even further behind in the American League West. With struggles from Robert Garcia leading the way, Josh Jung, Adolis Garcia, and others need help. Fortunately for Texas, Major League Baseball gave them a new option when it comes to making improvements.

8/15/25 Interest in Former Rangers Slugger Nathaniel Lowe Could Pick Up Soon. The Texas Rangers have their own problems to deal with on the field, but it was notable that one of their former players is now looking for a new team. After getting shipped to the Washington Nationals this past winter in exchange for reliever Robert Garcia, 2023 World Series champion Nathaniel Lowe didn't last a full year with his new team following their decision to designate him for assignment in a shocking roster move on Aug. 14. Lowe, who was an important part of Texas' lineup on both offense and defense during his early tenure with the team, seems like he could be a hot commodity amongst contenders looking for a solid first baseman to add for the rest of the season. For a while, it seemed like the Nationals were going to trade him to the Red Sox ahead of the deadline since the two sides were linked so heavily.

8/06/25 The Garcia problem: Struggles of Texas Rangers' key pieces prove costly in loss to Yankees. The Rangers did what they must against the New York Yankees. Also, the Rangers' Garcia issues appear to be multiplying. In a 3-2 loss to the Yankees Wednesday, both Robert Garcia and Adolis García came up short. Garcia allowed the game-winning homer to Paul Goldschmidt, extending his homer streak to three consecutive appearances.

8/02/25 Bruce Bochy doubles down on closer after Rangers' collapse vs. Mariners. The Texas Rangers had Friday night's game against the Seattle Mariners in the bag. Bruce Bochy's team took a 3-2 lead into the ninth inning on the road. Robert Garcia, who has been Texas' closer, came in to get the final three outs. Bochy is in the final year of his contract.

7/22/25 Rangers' Chris Young reveals Texas' potential trade deadline focus. The Texas Rangers struggled to stay around the .500 mark throughout the first half of the season. Rangers manager Bruce Bochy has tried his best to turn things around, including getting himself ejected multiple times. With the trade deadline looming, Texas has become a team to watch. If they do, team president Chris Young wants an upgrade over Robert Garcia in the bullpen.

6/11/25 Robert Garcia's journey from 9-to-5 to Texas Rangers' closer role as improbable as it gets. Ross Fenstermaker was a professional scout in the Texas Rangers organization when he swung by a UC Davis baseball game on a spring day nine years ago and watched a big, burly left-handed pitcher throw for his alma mater. “Hey,” Fenstermaker, now the Rangers' general manager, said that day in a text to an area scout who kept tabs on California amateurs, “I think this guy is pretty good.”

3/03/25 Robert Garcia believes he has 'ability to do it all,' including Texas Rangers' closer role. Texas Rangers left-handed pitcher Robert Garcia, whom the club acquired in exchange for first baseman Nathaniel Lowe this winter, would like to toss hit hat into the ring for one of the few key open roles on the major league depth chart. “I see myself as a closer at some point in my career,” Garcia said Monday afternoon. Bochy described Garcia as “a big part” of the team's high-leverage plan Saturday morning but couched that with the fact that there aren't any defined roles at this stage of camp. Be the smartest Rangers fan.

3/01/25 Texas Rangers Closer Candidate to Make Spring Training Debut Next Week. Jacob deGrom wasn't the only Texas Rangers pitcher that received the date for his first spring training game on Saturday. Robert Garcia, the right-handed reliever acquired in the Nathaniel Lowe trade, will make his debut on Monday in Cactus League action, per The Dallas Morning News. Manager Bruce Bochy revealed the plan at the same time he told reporters that deGrom, the team's top starting pitcher, would throw a live bullpen on Saturday and would make his spring training debut on Friday.

2/19/25 Peace of mind restored for Texas Rangers RP Robert Garcia as lefty returns to mound. This Rangers update is brought to you by Ben and Jerry's makers of “Cheery Garcia,” news. While the Rangers on Wednesday raved about the explosiveness they've seen from Adolis García early in camp, there was encouraging news on the other Garcia front, too. Newly added lefty reliever Robert Garcia seems to have put his bout of forearm irritation behind him. “All the symptoms from before are gone,” Garcia said Wednesday.

2/15/25 The Texas Rangers are being cautious with pitchers Robert Garcia, Emiliano Teodo. Newly-acquired reliever Robert Garcia, who may have a late-inning role, may be eager to make an impression on his new team. Garcia, acquired from Washington in the Nathaniel Lowe trade, has yet to throw a bullpen this spring after arriving with some nerve irritation in his left (throwing) forearm. The Rangers believe the injury to be minor, but, given the time at the outset of camp, want to be cautious and relayed that to Garcia in a meeting with Bochy and pitching coach Mike Maddux. Bochy said the Rangers anticipate Garcia throwing bullpens in another “two or three extra days.”

1/05/25 Washington Nationals Have Two Significant Tasks Left This Offseason. The Nationals dealt reliever Robert Garcia to the Texas Rangers for Nathaniel Lowe, which helps solve their first base issue. Washington also lured Josh Bell back on a one-year deal to, most likely, be the team's everyday designated hitter. On the mound, the two major moves are in the rotation, where the Nationals brought back Trevor Williams on a two-year deal and signed Michael Soroka on a one-year deal.

12/27/24 Gleyber Torres Turned Down Washington Nationals Over Position Change: Report. Turns out, the Washington Nationals have been busier in free agency than originally thought, according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman. The Nationals have been looking for answers at both first base and third base this offseason. Washington found its answer at first base right before Christmas Day with a trade, dealing reliever Robert Garcia to the Texas Rangers for Nathaniel Lowe.

12/23/24 Texas Rangers continue bullpen rebuild with Shawn Armstrong signing. Is Kirby Yates next?. The Texas Rangers' bullpen reconstruction project reached the final stages. By trading for lefty Robert Garcia on Sunday and signing right-hander Shawn Armstrong to a one-year deal Monday, the Rangers have added four experienced arms to the middle of the bullpen this month. “I'm very happy with the moves we've made,” said President of Baseball Operations Chris Young, who shoved a trade and two free agent deals into a family Christmas trip to Florida. Be the smartest Rangers fan.
