4/22/25 Cuts both ways: Guardians' Gavin Williams mixes in a pitch that keeps Yankees off balance. When Gavin Williams took the mound Monday against the Yankees, something was different. The Guardians starter, who struggled mightily at Progressive Field last season, revealed a weapon that had been collecting dust in his arsenal – a cutter that transformed his night and possibly his trajectory for the season ahead.

4/16/25 Orioles belt three home runs, hand Guardians 9-1 loss. Gavin Williams did not make many mistakes Wednesday, but the ones he did make cost the Guardians both early and late in a 9-1 loss to the Orioles at Camden Yards. Jackson Holliday hammered a 1-0 slider from Williams that hung over the middle of the plate for a grand slam in the second inning to put the O's in front 4-0, and Cleveland never recovered. Ex-Guardians outfielder Ramon Laureano added a run in the seventh with a towering drive to left field for his first home run and first RBI in an Orioles uniform.

3/30/25 Cleveland Guardians Pitcher Receives Head-Turning Prediction. The Cleveland Guardians are certainly more known for their bullpen than their starting rotation, but there is one Guardians starter in particular who is generating considerable buzz with the 2025 MLB season now in full swing: Gavin Williams. A former top prospect, Williams missed half of last year due to elbow inflammation, and when he did return, he was underwhelming, pitching to the tune of 4.86 ERA over 16 starts. Eno Sarris of The Athletic has dropped a very bold prediction for Williams, going as far to say that he expects the right-hander to contend for an AL Cy Young award.

3/29/25 Guardians' Gavin Williams Has Revitalized Confidence Heading Into Season Debut. This time last year, Gavin Williams and the Cleveland Guardians medical team were figuring out a plan to get the starting pitcher healthy while the rest of the team headed out for Opening Day. Fast forward to 2025, Williams is with the team for the first series of the season, and looks like the best version of himself through spring training. Williams is scheduled to make his season debut on Saturday against the Kansas City Royals, and he's heading into the start with newfound confidence after an injury-filled 2024.

3/14/25 Three Guardians With Silently Solid Spring Training Stats. Gavin Williams and Kyle Manzardo have captivated spring training as they continue their standout training camps with the Cleveland Guardians. Here are three players (who could be on Cleveland's Opening Day roster) who are silently recording solid stats this March. Logan Allen has had his ups and downs with the Guardians, but he's currently flying under the radar with an incredibly strong spring training. Allen has appeared in four games and pitched 10.1 innings so far this Cactus League and has only allowed one earned run, which came on a solo shot.

3/12/25 Guardians Pitcher is Baseball's Best in Electrifying Category. The Cleveland Guardians had one of the worst starting rotations in baseball last year, but they were able to compensate for it with a historically great bullpen. Perhaps one of the most important cogs in Cleveland's rotation is Gavin Williams, who missed half of 2024 with an elbow injury and returned to pitch to the tune of a 4.86 ERA over 16 starts. The Guardians are expecting much more from the former top prospect this time around, but the good news is that the right-hander has displayed some very positive signs in spring training. In particular, Williams has been fanning a lot of hitters, logging 16 strikeouts across eight innings.

3/11/25 Guardians' Frustrating Pitcher Receives Astonishing Take. The Cleveland Guardians certainly expected a lot more out of starting pitcher Gavin Williams last season, who returned from an elbow injury in July and ultimately went 3-10 with a 4.86 ERA over 16 starts. While his 3.67 FIP was respectable, there wasn't a whole lot else to like about Williams in 2024, as his strikeout rate was rather pedestrian (for his standards) and his 1.368 WHIP was less than desirable. "So, a healthy Gavin Williams I think for sure gives you another top 20 arm in baseball," Lada said.

3/09/25 Guardians Pitcher Giving Rotation Hope As Spectacular Spring Continues. It's been hard not to overreact to the Cactus League stats Gavin Williams continues to post. Yes, it's only spring training, but Williams certainly looks like he is ready to be a top arm in the Cleveland Guardians' rotation in 2025. Williams has been one of the team's standout performers this spring and is giving the Guardians hope that their starting rotation could have a legit one-two punch at the top.

3/06/25 Guardians' Erratic Pitcher Lands Massive Take from Analyst. The Cleveland Guardians' starting rotation is full of concerns heading into the 2025 MLB season, and perhaps one of the biggest question marks is Gavin Williams. Williams is entering a pivotal campaign after missing half of last year due to injury and failing to consistently produce when he returned. Well, count Eno Sannis of The Athletic among those who believes Williams has what it takes to succeed on the big-league level, as he listed the flamethrower among six pitchers he feels could break out this year. "Williams is trying to throw three breaking balls this spring, a 90-plus mph cutter thing, a deeper slider and his curveball, which is probably enough to deal with lefties and get strikeouts in bunches like he did in the minors, but the biggest reason he'll break out is batters don't have enough time to decide what to do — because of that big, booming fastball, released closer to the plate than anyone's," Sannis wrote.

3/04/25 Guardians Pitcher Showing Encouraging Signs Early This Spring. At one point, not too long ago, Gavin Williams was viewed as the next ace of the Cleveland Guardians. Thankfully, Williams had a healthy offseason to prepare for 2025 and has shown some very encouraging signs that he could compete with Tanner Bibee as the rotation's top arm this season. Williams' velocity appears to be back at a consistent high 90s, and Stephen Vogt has raved about the movement of his fastball and the shape of his offspeed pitches this spring. Williams' latest spring appearance came on Tuesday, and it was more encouraging signs from the right-hander.

9/17/24 Cleveland Guardians Starting Pitcher Fighting To Find Consistency. Gavin Williams was a bright spot during the Cleveland Guardians ' 2023 season. The rookie pitcher (at the time) showed flashes of being an ace and the ability to establish complete command of the strike zone. However, Williams' sophomore season in the big leagues hasn't been the same story. He's made just 15 starts all season due to an elbow injury he suffered in spring training, and he has a 5.12 ERA and 1.39 WHIP in those appearences. Stephen Vogt touched on what he's seen from Williams ahead of his start against the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday. "I would say it's just kind of been erratic. We see it really, really good, and then a couple where it's good, and then one, two where it's not his
