4/21/25 Texas Rangers Starting Pitcher Has One of the Most Lethal Pitches in the Entire Sport. The Texas Rangers have had somewhat of a mixed bag when it comes to their start this season, with their offense being somewhat stagnant at points while their pitching has led them to a 13-9 record through the first few series. This places them atop the American League West at the moment, and has allowed them to build momentum at home with a 10-3 record in Arlington to begin the 2025 campaign. The pitching from this staff has been absolutely outstanding, and they have managed to do so without Cody Bradford, Jon Gray, Josh Sborz, and, for a short time, Jack Leiter, all of whom have landed on the injured list at various points this season or ahead of Opening Day. The Rangers currently sit No. 4 in the league in ERA (3.23), No. 1 in walks allowed (only 53), No. 1 in WHIP (1.05) and No. 4 in batting average allowed (.212).

3/26/25 In the era of big velocities, some pitchers are still finding other ways to succeed. Texas Rangers left-hander Cody Bradford says he realized early in his development that he probably wouldn’t ever possess the type of fastball that causes scouts to take a second look at their radar guns. It hasn’t stopped him from finding a home in the majors, even in an era focused on pushing velocities higher and higher. Bradford’s part of a small fraternity of pitchers who have bucked recent trends by maintaining successful careers without throwing particularly hard. The club includes Pittsburgh's Bailey Falter, Cleveland's Ben Lively and Cincinnati reliever Brent Suter among others.

Texas Rangers left-hander Cody Bradford says he realized early on that he probably wouldn’t ever possess the type of fastball that causes scouts to take a second look at their radar guns. It hasn’t stopped him from finding a home in the majors even as his peers push their velocities higher and higher. “God didn’t gift me with the ability to throw 100 miles an hour,” Bradford said.

3/17/25 Texas Rangers roster projection, 3.0: There's work to do as Camp Surprise winds down. A lot can happen in a week. As soon as the new projections hit the internet, Rangers pitchers started dropping like flies. By the weekend the Rangers were down two starters — Cody Bradford and Jon Gray — for an extended period. It throws a big wrench into roster construction that extends beyond just the starting rotation.

3/16/25 Jack Leiter, Kumar Rocker should be fix for Texas Rangers' pitching jam, but aren't yet. The solution to the Rangers' pitching jam should be easy and obvious. While Cody Bradford and Jon Gray are out, however long that may be, the answer should be to plug in Jack Leiter and Kumar Rocker into the starting rotation. With a week left in Arizona, the Rangers have been positively effusive about Patrick Murphy, who spent last season as a reliever in Japan, and Adrian Houser, whose ERA over the last three seasons (4.76) is one of the 20 highest in baseball among the 140 with at least 250 innings in that span.

3/13/25 Rangers right-hander Bradford to open season on injured list with sore elbow. Texas Rangers right-hander Cody Bradford will start the season on the injured list because of soreness in his throwing elbow. Bradford had an MRI this week that came back clean, but Rangers manager Bruce Bochy told reporters on Thursday the club will shut him down for 10 days to see how he responds. Bradford was scratched from a scheduled start on Wednesday.

2/23/25 3 Texas Rangers observations: Cody Bradford off on the right foot; 1st-rounder sees action. Like, in Cody Bradford's case, his birthday lands around the start of exhibition games each year. It worked well for him and the Rangers when the Aledo southpaw posted a 3.54 ERA in 13 starts over the course of an injury-interrupted season. “I think it'll all work out just fine,” Bradford said Sunday. Be the smartest Rangers fan.

2/19/25 Texas Rangers Among MLB Teams Targeting Veteran Free-Agent Starter. The Texas Rangers have eight candidates for their five-man starting rotation, but there one thing the candidates are lacking — a veteran left-hander. In fact, Texas has just one left-handed among its eight starting candidates and that's Cody Bradford, who missed a good portion of last season with an injury. The Rangers may be looking to bring in more competition, as Francys Romero reported that they are one of three teams that are expressing interest in veteran left-hander Jose Quintana. Romero also reported that the New York Mets — who employed Quintana for the last two seasons — and the San Diego Padres are targeting the 36-year-old and that interest could pick up fast.

2/13/25 Cody Bradford will contribute to Texas Rangers. It's up to Bruce Bochy to sort out how. Cody Bradford may not yet have a role on the Rangers' pitching staff, but it certainly sounds like he goes to camp with a role on the team. With Jacob deGrom, Nathan Eovaldi, Jon Gray, Tyler Mahle, Kumar Rocker and Bradford, the Rangers may have to whittle down one starter in a month.

2/10/25 5 Texas Rangers with a little extra on the line at 2025 spring training. Teams that make real decisions based on 40 plate appearances or 15 innings might well end up trading a franchise player inexplicably. The Rangers go to Surprise, Ariz., to start camp on Wednesday with a roster that seems pretty well set, barring injury. Be the smartest Rangers fan. Cody Bradford: By the time the Rangers got to Surprise last year, any internal argument over whether Wyatt Langford, the 2023 first-round pick, would make the team seemed to be settled.

1/13/25 Spencer Arrighetti, 2025 Fantasy Baseball Sleeper.

There’s nothing I hate more than a flip-flopping flip-flipper even when it’s referring to myself! Please, blog, may I have some more?

9/06/24 'He's A Great Pitcher.' Texas Rangers Lefty Cody Bradford Doesn't Light Up Radar Guns, But He Wins. Cody Bradford is leaving no doubt he deserves to remain in the Texas Rangers rotation in 2025. The left-hander tossed his fifth consecutive quality start with six one-run, two-hit innings against the Los Angeles Angels in Thursday's 3-1 win. Bradford, 26, joined a select group of Rangers pitchers by recording 54 or more strikeouts and nine or fewer walks in his first 10 starts in 2024. The only other pitchers in franchise history to accomplish that are Colby Lewis in 2012 and Cliff Lee in 2010, according to Stathead.
