4/18/25 | See what Rangers' Josh Jung said about the strange game-ending double play vs. the Dodgers. Right now, the Rangers can't even hit foul balls correctly. Instead of a foul ball and the tying run still at the plate, the game ended on a double-play when the batter, Josh Jung, stopped running. After fouling off a pair of 2-2 95 mph fastballs from reliever Tanner Scott, Jung hit a hard bouncer down the third-base line that appeared to bounce in foul territory, but kicked back towards the base. Third base umpire Nick Mahrley started to jump back to avoid the ball and his hands went up, but he signaled fair ball as Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy grabbed it. 4/08/25 | Texas Rangers activate Josh Jung from IL, reinforce bullpen; what it means moving forward. As expected the Texas Rangers activated Josh Jung from the injured list on Tuesday, but it wasn't as clean as just that. After Nathan Eovaldi went only 4 2/3 innings on Monday and Gerson Garabito had to pitch the remainder of the game, the Rangers found themselves short when it came to length in the bullpen. Josh Jung (neck spasms) was activated from the IL: It was perhaps a bit surprising that the Rangers optioned Ezequiel Duran to Triple-A Round Rock and instead kept Jonathan Ornelas as a backup infielder. 4/06/25 | Josh Jung 'looked good' in rehab assignment. When will he return to Texas Rangers' lineup?. The Texas Rangers' lineup is still finding its way. Third baseman Josh Jung is “on schedule” to start at third base for the Rangers against the Chicago Cubs Tuesday at Wrigley Field, manager Bruce Bochy said Sunday. It's the earliest day that Jung, who was placed on the injured list with neck spasms retroactive to March 29, can be activated. Source: https://www.dallasnews.com/sports/rangers/2025/04/... |

3/28/25 | Red Sox rookie Kristian Campbell's first hit will go down in the books, one way or the other. After singling in the ninth inning of Boston's Opening Day win, Campbell was awarded his souvenir ball in a nifty sanitary stocking, marked “First Hit, 3/27, Texas, Single”. Campbell gave the coveted baseball to his proud parents Thursday night. Before Friday's game, however, the Globe learned that the Rangers might appeal Campbell's hit and ask that it be changed to an error by Texas third baseman Josh Jung. If MLB rules in favor of the change, Campbell's hit goes away, which would have made him officially hitless at the start of Friday night's Game 2 at Globe Life Field. 3/27/25 | Josh Jung surprises Texas Rangers teammates with opening day pregame bounty. For a lot of people, opening day may seem like Christmas Day. For the Texas Rangers clubhouse, that was especially true. Taking a page from the personal playbook of fellow Texas Tech Red Raider Patrick Mahomes, Josh Jung surprised all of his teammates with a treasure trove of opening day gifts, meant to be both practical and thoughtful. Be the smartest Rangers fan. Source: https://www.dallasnews.com/sports/rangers/2025/03/... |
3/26/25 | Texas Rangers' Josh Jung has shown power, poise, potential. All that's left is durability. Josh Jung has all the ability and capability. The only thing lacking from Josh Jung's star résumé is only the most important: Durability. As he prepares to start his sixth season as a pro and his third as the Rangers' third baseman, Jung is still seeking his first full season. In two full seasons on the Rangers' roster, Jung has started barely 51% of the team's games due to injuries. Source: https://www.dallasnews.com/sports/rangers/2025/03/... |
3/10/25 | Jung aims to lead Rangers’ culture development in 2025. SURPRISE, Ariz. 3/06/25 | Rangers Jacob deGrom, Wyatt Langford to make spring debuts; Josh Jung a challenge beast. Third baseman Josh Jung had successful challenges on balls called strikes by home plate umpire John Bacon in each of his first two at-bats, actually on two consecutive pitches he saw. It apparently gave him the lead in the Rangers' challenge pool, though Bochy had no idea of the exact standings, only that somebody will take home a few bucks for having the highest net challenge rate. Jung's first challenge came on a full-count pitch from Dylan Cease and turned a called strike three instead into a walk. The next time up, Bacon called a first-pitch strike on a ball that was outside, prompting Jung to challenge again. Source: https://www.dallasnews.com/sports/rangers/2025/03/... |
2/23/25 | Texas Rangers Bitter Rivals Eyeing Renewed Trade Interest in All-Star Slugger. The Texas Rangers know their third base situation. That position is held down by Josh Jung , the slugger who helped them win the 2023 World Series as a rookie. Keeping him healthy is a key for any attempt to make another run at a title. For the first time in nearly a decade the Houston Astros , the Rangers' top rivals, don't have Alex Bregman at third base. The slugger departed for a three-year, $120 million deal with the Boston Red Sox . For the Rangers , that's a boost in the AL West race. Not having to deal with Bregman means the Astros will have to use a new third baseman. The Astros also traded slugging outfielder Kyle Tucker , leaving another gap in their offense. But, in return Houston Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/rangers/news/texas-rangers-... |
2/21/25 | Texas Rangers Injury-Plagued Infielder Is Biggest X-Factor This Season. The Texas Rangers fell woefully short of expectations during the 2024 season in large part because of the number of injuries their players sustained. Key contributors were sidelined regularly, leading to a very disappointing 78-win campaign after winning the World Series in 2023. Now that several of those players are healthy heading into spring training, expectations and optimism are both on the rise. One of the players whom the Rangers would love to see return to form is third baseman Josh Jung. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/rangers/news/texas-rangers-... |
2/03/25 | Rangers Position Preview: Health at hot corner key for Josh Jung. Third base wasn't supposed to be a problem for the then defending World Series champions in 2024, not with 2023 Rookie of the Year candidate Josh Jung set to begin his sophomore full season of action for the Texas Rangers. What started out with such promise quickly turned to panic before becoming the fertile ground for a stunning revelation that has allowed the Rangers to go into the 2025 season with more depth in case Jung again hits the shelf. With 2025 right around the corner, the Rangers appear a bit more stabilized at the hot corner, but can afford to be a little more cautious. 1/25/25 | Texas Rangers Slugger Seeks Injury-Free Season for First Time in Majors. Ask Texas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung if everything is normal after last year's thumb injury, and he quickly realized he has no point of reference. “I don't know what it looked like before,” Jung said earlier this month at Rangers FanFest. Jung suffered a fractured thumb during the first full week of last season, an injury that caused him to have surgery and miss the first half of the season, as the fracture was more extensive than originally thought. In 2023, his first full season, he missed more than a month with a left thumb fracture while trying to field a line drive. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/rangers/news/texas-rangers-... |
