What started off as a slow game, heated up in the ninth inning as Colorado scored three runs to take a 3-2 lead before Freddy Fermin would level the game in the bottom of the ninth, scoring on a sacrifice fly. In the top of the tenth, Fermin would go on to help save the game, throwing a runner out at third base before hitting the RBI walk-off single to give the Royals the 4-3 win in the bottom of the tenth. After a rain delay pushed game two of the three-game series back a day to turn Thursday into a double-header for the Royals and Rockies, the 'Yals closed out Colorado with two victories.
