9/20/24 Yankees designate Ron Marinaccio for assignment to activate Cody Poteet. OAKLAND, Calif. — The Yankees showed how they felt about Ron Marinaccio this season by keeping him in Triple-A for most of the year despite their bullpen needing help. In that sense, their decision to designate Marinaccio for assignment on Friday may not have been all that surprising, even if it was a bit jarring to see them give up on the 29-year-old reliever. The Yankees needed to open a spot on the 40-man roster to activate Cody Poteet off the 60-day IL (and subsequently option him to Triple-A), so they landed on Marinaccio as the odd man out. 8/02/24 Yankees made 2 roster moves on off day with another on horizon. By optioning reliever Ron Marinaccio back down to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday night, after finishing off a sweep of the Phillies, the Yankees have one available spot on their active roster. Barring some sort of unforeseen development, that vacancy in the bullpen will be filled by right-hander Enyel De Los Santos, the other reliever the Yankees acquired before Tuesday's trade deadline. Mark Leiter Jr. is already in the 'pen, making two appearances during the series in Philadelphia after coming over from the Cubs.

2/18/24 Yankees hope Ron Marinaccio's offseason foundation work leads to 2024 rebound. TAMPA — The Yankees have talked about many of their pitchers entering spring training with a better foundation from their offseason work. Ron Marinaccio has taken that literally. A stress reaction in his shin late in the 2022 season limited his offseason preparation entering 2023, when he took a step back from his strong rookie season. 3 Ron Marinaccio delivers a pitch during Yankees' spring training practice. This year, a lack of command first got him sent back down to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and still has him there. 8/18/23 Yankees summon in arm for Red Sox series, decide on a starter for series opener. It wasn't long ago that Ron Marinaccio was a big part of the Yankees' bullpen. The righty had a standout rookie season in 2022 and was solid for the first three months of this season. A slump that began in July, however, led to a demotion back to Triple-A, then more struggles with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Marinaccio, 28, was 4-5 with a 4.05 ERA in 40 Yankees games when he was optioned on July 31.

7/31/23 Yankees demote Ron Marinaccio, recall Jhony Brito to start. The MLB Trade Deadline is a little over 24 hours away as of the time of writing and the Yankees have made a transaction in advance of their three-game series against the Rays (who just traded for Cleveland's Aaron Civale). Ron Marinaccio was one of the the Yankees' success stories in 2022. It seemed like he had earned his spot as a solid middle-relief staple with flexibility to set up if needed, but the magic hasn't been there for Marinaccio in 2023. The sad thing is that the statistics above would look even worse if it they didn't include the 2.2 innings of scoreless garbage time that Marinaccio threw last night in Baltimore.
