4/22/25 IN FOCUS - MY Tuesday Observations. Entering a huge series with the Phillies, the Mets have their best division odds of the season, which have nearly tripled since the start of the year. Tylor Megill has always been known for his incredibly deep arsenal, which contains pitches such as his aptly named “American Fork.”

4/21/25 'More confident' Tylor Megill doing what Mets hoped for after 'good momentum' last season. Given another opportunity to prove his value, Mets starter Tylor Megill has taken full advantage of the moment.

4/21/25 'High energy' expected as Mets, Phillies open series. On Sunday afternoon, the New York Mets completed their first four-game sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals since 1986. The historical comparisons will be of the far more recent variety for the Mets on Monday night, when they host the Philadelphia Phillies in the opener of a three-game series. Tylor Megill (2-2, 1.40 ERA) is slated to start for the Mets against fellow right-hander Aaron Nola (0-4, 6.65). The Mets remained hot after Brandon Nimmo laced a tiebreaking RBI single in the seventh inning of a 7-4 win over the Cardinals on Sunday, while the Phillies missed a chance to sweep the Miami Marlins when they squandered a three-run lead in a 7-5 loss in 10 innings.

4/16/25 In Focus - Yesterday's HIghlights. Pitch Profiler @pitchprofiler Tylor Megill battled through five innings in Minnesota, striking out three and allowing just two earned—but it easily could've been less. The Mets' defense uncharacteristically cost him extra pitches and runs. Still, he flashed a 128 proStuff+ fastball and held the line. Pitch Profiler @pitchprofiler Blade Tidwell butchered the Buffalo Bisons today—five innings, two runs, four punchouts, and pure dominance. His arsenal is absurd. It includes a 129 proStuff+ slider and a ridiculous 164 proStuff+ sweeper. Most pros dream of stuff like this. Mathew Brownstein @MBrownstein89 Here's a visual of the pitches Juan Soto has seen at the plate with runners on base this season.

4/05/25 Mets' 'nasty' bullpen emerges as an early-season weapon. There was a moment during Friday's home opener in which the game could have gotten away from the Mets. Clinging to a two-run lead, Mets starter Tylor Megill exited with one out in the sixth inning after issuing back-to-back walks to the Toronto Blue Jays. Red-hot cleanup hitter Andres Giménez loomed on deck. Right-handed reliever Reed Garrett struck out Giménez on four pitches, getting the left-handed hitter to swing over the top of a filthy splitter for the third strike.

3/29/25 Tylor Megill sheepishly debuted the Mets' incredibly NSFW pitching mantra. The Mets want to throw strikes. Just ask the shirt.

3/28/25 Mets showcase winning pitching formula in series-evening victory over Astros. In spring training, the Mets had Tylor Megill living by the mantra “keep it simple.” The message was the same for Megill in the Mets' 3-1 win against the Houston Astros on Friday. “We all know he's got a lot of pitches right, but when we could keep it simple ... get strike one, continue to stay on the attack, trust the defense, trust your pitches in the strike zone,” Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said, “I think that's going to be the key for him.”

3/23/25 Mets' Tylor Megill on a mission in 2025: 'You want to be a guy that sticks'. Tylor Megill has been here before, last year, the before that and the year before that too. The Mets informed Megill that he secured a spot on the Opening Day roster this weekend, lining him up to pitch Friday night in Houston against the Astros. If he doesn't stick, the Mets can send him back to Triple-A if he needs to rebuild his confidence. With a career ERA of 4.56 and a FIP of 4.40, the Mets have discussed using him out of the bullpen, but the club continues to value him as a starter, and will continue to give him starts in his fifth big league season.

3/20/25 Tom Brennan: "Boy, That Starter STINKS!" And Wednesday Nite Normalcy. Tylor Megill ruffles the feathers of many an impatient fan. Brothers, it should not be so, saith the writer. Ever watch a starter having an off game, and your instant gut reaction is: “Boy, that starter STINKS!” Everybody has an occasional bad day…yes, my friends, even I do. Yes, it's true. Honesty is a blessing to the soul. Well, anyway, the next time you watch a starter and he has a bad day, and you're looking out the window for a bus to go by so you can throw him under said bus, remember this: The great Tom Seaver, in games that he lost? His record was a horrid 0–205, his ERA was a flatulent 4.92, and his WHIP in those 205 games was 1.44, right in the vicinity of the "superb" Tim Leary's career

3/17/25 Mets rival: One of their starting pitchers has never looked better. After injuries hit the Mets' pitching staff this spring, eyes have been on Tylor Megill as he battles for a spot in the rotation. According to Tim Britton of The Athletic, a rival evaluator said Megill has looked “better this spring than ever before — more like a legitimate starter in the big leagues." Megill was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse on Aug. 30 last summer and in his final seven appearances (six starts) last season, he allowed nine earned runs in 33 innings (2.45 ERA) with 38 strikeouts.

3/12/25 Mets' Tylor Megill searching for more consistency entering the season: 'It's being confident in your stuff and your strengths'. Tylor Megill is in familiar territory trying to win a job in the Mets rotation out of camp. Last year, the year before that and even the year before that one, Megill appeared to be on the outside looking in, yet the right-hander has always managed to break camp with the team, even pitching in two home openers. Early in his career it was injuries that limited him, but since 2023, it's been a lack of consistency. With the help of pitching coach Jeremy Hefner, Megill has maintained belief in himself as well.
