4/14/25 New Royals Leadoff Man Listed As One Of Team's Unluckiest Hitters. The Kansas City Royals managed to salvage their series finale against the Cleveland Guardians on Sunday, winning by a final score of 4-2 and avoiding a sweep. The Royals improved to 8-8 on the year and they sit 1 1/2 games back of the first-place Detroit Tigers in the American League Central. The third-place Royals are looking to build off of their 2024 success after they secured a Wild Card spot and made it to the ALDS. Jacob Milham of FanSided listed newcomer Jonathan India as somebody who has been unlucky this year.

4/11/25 Guardians-Royals has craziest strikeout in MLB history, thanks to Hunter Gaddis and Jonathan India. Every night in baseball, it seems, something happens that was totally unpredictable or something you've never seen before. In an otherwise insignificant game on the second Friday in April, strikeout magic happened. Here's the scene: Jonathan India is batting for the Royals. Hunter Gaddis is pitching for the Guardians.

4/02/25 Phillies-Royals Blockbuster Trade Idea Ships $3 Million Outfield Slugger To KC. The Kansas City Royals' biggest weakness is clear as day, and it hasn't changed since the start of last season: the outfield. New leadoff hitter Jonathan India is mixing in as the starting left fielder on occasion (a position he's never played at the big-league level), and that's the only meaningful change the Royals made to a position group that capped their potential at 86 wins in 2024. Unless MJ Melendez or Hunter Renfroe steps up and becomes an above-average hitter this season, the Royals will almost certainly be in the trade market for better offense from their outfield this summer. In a recent article, Athlon's Matthew Sullivan proposed a hypothetical trade that would land Phillies outfielder and fan-favorite Brandon Marsh in Kansas City, with a two-for-one swap involving Renfroe as the blueprint.

4/01/25 Royals Place Speedy Outfielder On Injured List, Recall Super-Utility Man. The Kansas City Royals averted disaster on Monday when it was announced that Jonathan India would return to the lineup following a scary moment in Sunday's game. The new leadoff man was hit in the head by a fastball from Cleveland Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase. Late on Monday, it was announced that outfielder Dairon Blanco would land on the injured list with a right achilles injury, something that had been bothering him all spring training.

3/31/25 Royals' India in lineup day after face hit by pitch. Second baseman Jonathan India is back in the Royals' starting lineup Monday -- a day after being hit in the left side of his face by a 99-mph pitch from Cleveland's Emmanuel Clase. A CT scan revealed no lingering damage to India.

3/24/25 MLB Writer Outlines Worst-Case Scenario For Royals In 2025. The Kansas City Royals had a busy offseason, adding Jonathan India via trade and signing Carlos Estevez while also bringing back Michael Wacha and Michael Lorenzen. Last year, the Royals won 86 games and secured the second American League Wild Card spot.

3/22/25 Royals' Lineup Ranked 17th Best In MLB Entering 2025. The Kansas City Royals were busy this offseason, trading for Jonathan India and signing Carlos Estevez. Entering 2025, they'll hope to have a deeper postseason run after falling short in the American League Division Series to the eventual AL champion New York Yankees. The AL Central is wide open, and the Royals should have a decent chance to climb to the top or at least clinch a Wild Card spot.

3/18/25 Royals Ranked 15th Best Team In MLB After 2024 Success. The Kansas City Royals won 86 games last year and secured the second American League Wild Card spot. Players such as Jonathan India and Carlos Estevez were added. In addition, Michael Wacha and Michael Lorenzen were retained in free agency. The Royals will hope to make it back to the postseason in 2025 after losing the ALDS to the eventual AL champion New York Yankees in four games.

3/04/25 Royals Predicted To Move Ex-Rookie Of The Year To New Position For 2025 Season. The Kansas City Royals needed a new leadoff hitter, and they got one in Jonathan India. Now, they just have to decide what position India will play. For most of India's major league career with the Cincinnati Reds, he has been a second baseman. Unfortunately, he hasn't been very good there on defense, and the Royals also have a more-than-capable second baseman on the roster already in Michael Massey.

2/25/25 Yankees 2024 Playoff Starter Could Help 'Flimsy' Royals As Last-Minute Addition. It was the Royals' outfield that plagued them the most of any roster issue in 2024, and so far, their only solution has been to trade for a lifelong infielder in Jonathan India and attempt to convert him to left field. On Monday, MLB Trade Rumors' Steve Adams discussed the possibility of the Royals signing Alex Verdugo (subscription required).

2/21/25 Royals move Jonathan India, ex-Reds second baseman, to outfield for Cactus League opener. Defensively, Jonathan India never played anywhere but second base during the regular season in four years with the Reds.

2/19/25 Royals sign ex-Dodgers draft pick to minor league contract. Early in the offseason, the Kansas City Royals acquired Jonathan India and shipped off Brady Singer in a blockbuster trade; nonetheless, the team has remained relatively quiet the rest of the winter. The Royals have signed left-handed pitcher Ross Stripling to a minor league contract, and the lefty will participate in Major League Spring Training. The Los Angeles Dodgers drafted Stripling in the fifth round of the 2012 MLB Draft, and he made his debut in 2016.

2/12/25 Royals Should Target Ex-Dodgers 2x All-Star To Bolster Lineup. The Kansas City Royals are down to just one more need to fill. Trading for Jonathan India, while helpful, doesn't fully solve their issues. The Royals are not involved in the Alex Bregman sweepstakes, but there are plenty of good bats available. Perhaps Kansas City could target him.

2/01/25 Kansas City Royals Trade Acquisition Makes Big Revelation Ahead of Spring Training. New Kansas City Royals player Jonathan India made a big revelation this week that he is readying for reps in the outfield this spring. Jonathan India said he talked with the #Royals about mainly playing 2B and 3B and "maybe some left field." The Royals are coming off a season in which they finished second in the American League Central and advanced to the American League Division Series before losing to the New York Yankees. Evidently, India is trying to do more he can to make himself valuable to his new team.

1/23/25 Royals Should Pursue $36 Million Ex-Padres Gold Glover For 2025. The Kansas City Royals have areas of the roster they need to address for 2025. While they've made a few key moves, bringing back a pair of veteran pitchers and trading for Jonathan India, more could be done to give the team a better chance to build off of its 2024 success. A little more power to go with Bobby Witt Jr. certainly wouldn't hurt. Ha-Seong Kim is listed as one of the top available free agents by The Athletic.

1/21/25 Royals Reportedly Targeting Ex-Yankees Reliever After Strong Bullpen Session. The Kansas City Royals have been busy this offseason, making a key trade to add both Jonathan India and Joey Wiemer from the Cincinnati Reds. Fortunately, a potential candidate has emerged for Kansas City.

1/17/25 Royals Loosely Linked To $105 Million All-Star After Breakout 2024. The Kansas City Royals enter the 2025 season in need of a bat. They already traded for Jonathan India and Joey Wiemer, and while that improves their lineup significantly, more needs to be done if they want to return to the postseason this coming season. They also had re-signed pitchers Michael Wacha and Michael Lorenzen, so they are likely set on the pitching side, but another big bat could help them take some major strides this season. Anthony Santander is the top free agent outfielder still available. Jeff Passan of ESPN noted that the Royals are a team in need of a bat and loosely linked them to Santander. "The biggest names are Anthony Santander and Jurickson Profar," Passan wrote on Thursday.
