4/17/25 Stephen Vogt focused on instilling confidence in Triston McKenzie: Guardians takeaways. After Guardians reliever Triston McKenzie struggled through a four-run inning in Wednesday's 9-1 loss to Baltimore, Cleveland's coaches and front office reaffirmed that the organization is committed to supporting the 27-year-old righty and helping him become the “best version of himself” this season. “He still has great stuff, his fastball's got great life, great carry,” Guardians president of baseball operations Chris Antonetti said. Vogt said McKenzie's command has been not where he wants it to be, but Guardians coaches are working tirelessly to help him achieve a level of consistency with his breaking pitches. “When you're not landing your off-speed in the zone and major league hitters can sit on a fastball, they're going to hit it hard,” Vogt said.

3/03/25 Analyst Identifies Major Problem for Guardians Pitcher. The Cleveland Guardians have a plethora of questions concerning their starting rotation heading into the 2025 MLB season, which should not come as much of a surprise considering how poor the Guardians' pitching staff was last year. Cleveland will be relying on multiple pitchers to either bounce back or have breakout campaigns, and one of the arms in the former category is Triston McKenzie. Back in 2022, McKenzie appeared to be one of the top rising pitchers in baseball, as he pitched to the tune of a 2.98 ERA while registering a sparkling 0.951 WHIP over 30 starts.

2/27/25 Good day for Logan Allen, bad day for Triston McKenzie in Guardians' 4-2 loss to White Sox. Guardians' left-hander Logan Allen threw 2 2/3 scoreless innings Thursday against the White Sox in his first start and second appearance of the Cactus League season. AP By Paul Hoynes, cleveland.com CLEVELAND, Ohio — Logan Allen pitched well, but Triston McKenzie didn't on Thursday afternoon as the Guardians lost to the White Sox, 4-2, at Camelback Ranch in Cactus League play. Allen turned in the longest start of a Cleveland pitcher this spring when he went 2 2/3 scoreless innings. He struck out four and allowed one hit and one walk. 2/24/25 Guardians Manager Drops Bold Claim on Embattled Pitcher. The last couple of years have certainly not been fun for Cleveland Guardians pitcher Triston McKenzie. The 2025 campaign will be a pivotal one for McKenzie, who is being expected to contribute to a Guardians starting rotation that needs significant help. Albeit, McKenzie only worked two innings, but it was still an indication that the 27-year-old may be trending in the right direction. Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt already sees the difference in his right-hander, and he feels that McKenzie already looks improved.

2/23/25 Analyst Fires Brutal Shot at Cleveland Guardians Pitcher. The 2025 MLB campaign will be an absolutely pivotal one for Cleveland Guardians pitcher Triston McKenzie, who is looking to rebound after a disastrous season. McKenzie showed some positive signs during his first spring training start on Saturday, going two innings against the Cincinnati Reds and touching 95 mph with his fastball. Velocity is obviously paramount, particularly for pitchers to rack up strikeouts. Earlier in his career, that was exactly what McKenzie did.

1/23/25 Cleveland Guardians' Frustrating Pitcher Put on Notice. The Cleveland Guardians had one of the worst starting rotations in baseball last season, and a big reason for that was the disappointing campaigns of a couple of their young pitchers. Triston McKenzie was one of the biggest culprits, as he went 3-5 with a 5.11 ERA over 16 starts before being demoted to the minor leagues. James Mastrucci of Away Back Gone has listed McKenzie among several Guardians players who need to pick up the pace in 2025, and he doesn't think it's a guarantee that McKenzie will even make the opening day roster. "Cleveland will certainly give him a chance to return to their rotation, considering they have plenty of question marks beyond Tanner Bibee," Mastrucci wrote.

11/21/24 REPORT: Guardians Avoid Arbitration With Starting Pitcher. Triston McKenzie looked like the future ace of the Cleveland Guardians during the 2022 season. What we do know is that it looks like Sticks will still be in the equation for Cleveland in some capacity in 2025. Per FanSided's Robert Murray, the Guardians and McKenzie settled on a $1.95 million contract for the 2025 season and avoided going through the arbitration process. Cleveland eventually optioned Triston to Triple-A halfway through the season to work on getting his rhythm and confidence back.

10/23/24 Will This Starting Pitching Duo Be In Guardians 2025 Rotation?. A lot of focus this offseason will be on how the Cleveland Guardians plan to improve their starting rotation production and overall depth. Yes, the front office could consider free agent options or trade scenarios to bolster this group. Two players who fall into this category are Triston McKenzie and Logan Allen. 9/17/24 Could Guardians Turn This Starter Into A Bullpen Weapon?. The Cleveland Guardians were expecting Triston McKenzie to play a key role in their rotation at the beginning of the season. McKenzie has started appearing in a different role for the Columbus Clippers as the one-time starter has started coming out of the bullpen as a multi-innings arm. McKenzie has made two relief appearances in September.

7/18/24 Mariners need more than active trade deadline to outrun Astros in AL West. On the precipice of the second half, have the Mariners already hit it? The Mariners had just completed a statement three-game sweep of the World Series champion Texas Rangers, pelting their division competition with superior starting pitching. Of course, the Mariners' momentum continued in Cleveland, as they mauled starter Triston McKenzie for four earned runs in just 2 1/3 innings in an impressive 8-5 win. On the same day, Seattle simultaneously reached its best record (44-31) and largest division lead (10 games over both Houston and Texas).

7/13/24 This Guardians Starter Is Quietly Pitching Valuable Innings For Cleveland. There's been so much talk surrounding the Cleveland Guardinas' pitching roation over the last few weeks. Two-thirds of their rotation (Triston McKenzie and Logan Allen) are at Triple-A reworking their mechanics, and those at the big league level are still leaving something to be desired on the mound. Cookie pitched 5.0 solid innings on Friday night, giving up one earned run and six hits while striking out three batters. This start is another in a recent trend for the veteran pitcher.

7/08/24 Behind The Cleveland Guardians Decision To Option Logan Allen. The Cleveland Guardians have made several tough moves over the last week. On June 30, Triston McKenzie was optioned to Triple-A, and the team followed that up with an announcement that Logan Allen would also be joining him in Columbus. Stephen Vogt touched on why the organization felt now was the best time to option Allen. The team didn't just send Allen down to Triple-A without anything specific to work on.
