4/26/25 Dodgers pitcher Tony Gonsolin to return to action for first time since 2023. Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Tony Gonsolin will be activated off the injured list and is expected to make his first major league start in 20 months against the Miami Marlins on Wednesday. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts made the announcement Saturday. Gonsolin’s last start also came against the Marlins, when he was rocked for 10 earned runs and eight hits, including five home runs, over 3 1/3 innings of an 11-3 loss in Dodger Stadium on Aug. 18, 2023.

4/09/25 Dodgers fans will be fired up with Tony Gonsolin's rehab start. Fans of the Los Angeles Dodgers have enjoyed the fast 10-4 start. Tony Gonsolin will fire up those fans even more. Gonsolin currently is part of the Oklahoma City Comets bullpen — the Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate. Oklahoma City revealed Gonsolin struck out seven batters.

3/26/25 Dodgers trade idea dumps Tony Gonsolin to Yankees for 23-year-old center fielder. The Los Angeles Dodgers barely had enough starting pitchers to make it through the 2024 season. Of course, the Dodgers are well aware injuries could strike again at any point. Tony Gonsolin is returning to the mound in 2025 after Tommy John surgery cost him the entire 2024 season. The 2022 National League All-Star might have a tough time ever cracking this Dodgers rotation, but he'd almost certainly be of use to their most recent World Series opponents.

3/22/25 Should Dodgers trade former All-Star pitcher as 2025 season begins?. The Los Angeles Dodgers are set to embark upon their goal of attempting to repeat as World Series champions. Unsurprisingly, the Dodgers are many experts' pick to win the 2025 Fall Classic. With that being said, there is one trade that could lead to the Dodgers adding talented prospects while continuing to pursue a championship. Tony Gonsolin, a 2022 All-Star, did not pitch in 2024 due to injury trouble.

3/11/25 Dodgers' Dustin May earns starting rotation spot to begin MLB season. Tony Gonsolin's long wait to return to the mound will continue following the news that he suffered a back injury and will begin the 2025 MLB season on the injured list. Dustin May will begin the new campaign as the fifth starter in the Los Angeles Dodgers' rotation, per USA Today's Bob Nightengale. The 27-year-old has a 5.40 ERA and six strikeouts in five innings of work in spring training, but he has impressed manager Dave Roberts by how he has built his strength back up after suffering multiple injuries during the last couple of years.

3/10/25 Dodgers All-Star Pitcher Suffers Injury, Officially Out of Opening Day Rotation. The Los Angeles Dodgers have made a decision on the fifth starter in their rotation — or rather, a decision has been made for them. All-Star right-hander Tony Gonsolin suffered a back injury while lifting weights, per manager Dave Roberts, and won't be ready for the start of the season. Roberts said Dustin May will get the final spot in the starting rotation to open the season. ”I think it's Dustin because, he's obviously pitched well, getting back,” Roberts said on Dodgers Territory Monday night.

2/21/25 Dodgers pitcher Tony Gonsolin ready to reclaim his spot. The Dodgers' glaring lack of starting pitchers as they headed into the postseason last fall had them considering every possible option – even one who hadn't pitched in the big leagues since August 2023 and was still in the final stages of recovering from Tommy John surgery. “Yeah, I think we were pretty close,” said Tony Gonsolin, the TJ rehabber in question. The Dodgers navigated their way to a World Series title with three traditional starters (Jack Flaherty, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Walker Buehler) and frequent 'bullpen games,' ultimately deciding that Gonsolin wasn't ready after just 7? innings over three rehab games in Triple-A. “We weren't close,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts insisted.

1/09/25 Dodgers could dump All-Star pitcher to Mets due to surplus of starters. The Los Angeles Dodgers rotation is expected to be healthy and at full strength in 2025. The Dodgers were without Tony Gonsolin all season after he underwent Tommy John surgery near the end of the 2023 season. Gonsolin and Dustin May are both expected to make their return to the Dodgers in 2025. Not to mention, the Dodgers are expected to bring back Clayton Kershaw who wants to play in 2025.

11/23/24 Dodgers Injured Pitcher Provides Huge Update on Status for 2025 Season. Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tony Gonsolin said he went into the offseason fully healthy and expects to be ready for the 2025 season. Gonsolin and Yoshinobu Yamamoto will be back in the starting rotation, while Tyler Glasnow and Dustin May are expected to return. Gonsolin shared the latest update on his availability as the right-hander missed all of the 2024 campaign. "Went into the offseason 100 percent, so should be 100 percent going into spring training," Gonsolin told Dodgers Nation's Doug McKain.

11/23/24 Dodgers agree to deals with Tony Gonsolin, Dustin May. May and Gonsolin – neither of whom pitched in the majors in 2024 while recovering from surgeries – were among the Dodgers’ 10 arbitration-eligible players. Six others were tendered contract offers.

11/22/24 Dodgers forgotten All-Star set for return to LA on $5.4 million contract. The Los Angeles Dodgers can officially enjoy their weekend, thanks to a productive Friday. Tony Gonsolin, a former National League All-Star who missed the entire 2024 season while rehabbing from Tommy John surgery, could be an under-the-radar addition to the Dodgers' star-studded rotation, which will be headlined by Tyler Glasnow, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Shohei Ohtani.

9/25/24 Dodgers change plans with Tony Gonsolin for final weekend. Tony Gonsolin made his long-awaited return to the mound earlier this month when he began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City. It was originally believed that Gonsolin wouldn't return to the Dodgers this season, but the team seems more open to the possibility because of their need for starters. While Gonsolin could potentially pitch for the Dodgers this year, Roberts said he won't be starting or appearing in any of the team's final three games against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field. Roberts previously indicated that Gonsolin was a candidate to come off the 60-day injured list during the final weekend of the regular season.

9/24/24 Tony Gonsolin Potentially Re-Joining Dodgers As Starting Pitcher. Tony Gonsolin was expected to miss the entire 2024 season, but he has made significant progress that has opened the door for a return to the Los Angeles Dodgers this year. Gonsolin underwent Tommy John surgery on Sept. 1, 2023, and just more than one year later, he's already completed his third rehab start. With another successful outing, his next one could come with the Dodgers. “He's been good, so we just got to keep building him up,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said prior to the rehab start.

9/21/24 Dodgers' pitcher gets crucial injury update. Back in February, the Los Angeles Dodgers put RHP Tony Gonsolin on the 60-day injured list. Now on the cusp of the MLB playoffs, Gonsolin is one step closer to a return as he is scheduled to start for the Oklahoma City Baseball Club, the Dodgers'  Triple-A affiliate from the Pacific Coast League. Gonsolin could return as soon as next week if this rehab start goes well, according to Bill Plunkett, a Dodgers' beat writer from the Orange County Register.

9/17/24 Dodgers keeping door open to postseason role for Tony Gonsolin. The Dodgers are holding the door open to a potential postseason role for a player who is rehabbing from elbow surgery last September. Right-hander Tony Gonsolin has made two rehab starts with Triple-A Oklahoma City already and will make a third later this week. After that, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said “there could be a conversation about him joining us – which, for me, I think would be fantastic.” Roberts said Gonsolin is “still a longshot” to figure into the Dodgers' plans.

9/11/24 Dodgers News: Tony Gonsolin Makes Successful First Rehab Start. Tony Gonsolin made his long-awaited return to the mound on Tuesday when he began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City. The 30-year-old underwent Tommy John surgery last September after pitching through elbow discomfort. “I think it's slightly open,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said of Gonsolin potentially returning this year.

For the Los Angeles Dodgers, pitchers and catchers are due to report to Camelback Ranch by Friday, February 9. Beginning on Thursday, the Dodgers will be able to transfer players to the 60-day injured list in order to clear spots on their 40-man roster for possible additions.
