1/30/25 Texas Rangers' bullpen ripe with both opportunity for pitchers, questions for Bruce Bochy. He's new here, but, gosh, Jacob Webb talks like he knows a thing or two about the Texas Rangers already. “A bullpen,” Webb said Saturday during a winter caravan stop at Rough Riders Field, “is a weird and crazy place sometimes.” Here's a crash-course refresher for proof: Texas' bullpen two seasons ago was the worst in baseball before it became ironclad in the postseason and, last year, it was bottom-five again despite an incredibly formidable 1-2 punch in the eighth and ninth innings.

12/17/24 Former Angels Pitcher Cut By AL West Rival. The Texas Rangers made room for former Los Angeles Angels reliever Jacob Webb by designating another former Halo for assignment. Webb needed a 40-man roster spot and the Rangers cut ties with right-hander Roansy Contreras before he ever appeared in a game with Texas. Contreras is leaving the Rangers' roster just six weeks after joining. Texas claimed him off waivers from the Angels early in the offseason, but it was always possible he wouldn't remain on the roster through the winter.

12/16/24 Former Angels Pitcher Signs With AL West Rival. The Texas Rangers have announced that they've reached an agreement with right-handed pitcher and former Los Angeles Angel Jacob Webb on a one-year contract for the 2025 season. Webb spent part of the 2023 season with the Angels, going 1-1 in 29 relief appearances. The reliever was acquired off waivers by the Baltimore Orioles from the Angels in August 2023 and delivered a strong performance during his year-and-a-half with the American League East team. Over 22 innings, he recorded a 3.27 ERA and struck out 23 batters after joining the club.

12/13/24 5 things to know about new Rangers reliever Jacob Webb: A lefty specialist. The Texas Rangers made the first of potentially many bullpen moves this offseason by signing veteran reliever Jacob Webb to a one-year deal. Be the smartest Rangers fan. Webb has played for three major league clubs throughout his five-year career.

12/12/24 Texas Rangers Add Another Bullpen Arm in Jacob Webb, But Backend Help Remains Club's Most Pressing Need. Say this for Texas Rangers president of baseball operations Chris Young: He competes with the same determination in the front office executive as he did on the pitching mound. Young and general manager Ross Fenstermaker added another much-needed pitcher in right-hander Jacob Webb to the roster on Wednesday, the third and final day of the MLB Winter Meetings at the Anatole Hotel in Dallas. Webb, 31, spent the past two seasons in the Baltimore Orioles bullpen, compiling a 3.02 ERA in a career-high 60 appearances with 58 strikeouts in 56 2/3 innings in 2024 while going 2-5 with two saves and 14 holds as the Orioles' primary set-up man.

12/11/24 Former Baltimore Orioles Reliever Jacob Webb Agrees to One-Year Deal With Rangers. The Baltimore Orioles needed relievers to eat innings for them last season, and some impressed in a major way. Jacob Webb was at the top of that list. Webb was claimed off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels in August 2023 and was excellent in his year-and-a-half with the ball club. In 2024, Webb had the second-best season of his professional career, finishing with a 3.02 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, .192 batting average against, and 58 strikeouts in 56 2/3 innings pitched.

9/23/24 Baltimore Orioles Finally Get Important Pieces Back for Crucial Part of Season. It's been anything but easy for this Orioles team, having gone 3-7 over their last 10 contests that puts them four games under .500 since the All-Star break. Injuries have been the story throughout the year for Baltimore, missing key members from their lineup and pitching staff who won't return for the remainder of the season, or were on the shelf for an extended period of time. The Orioles have begun to see many of their injured stars making their way back to the active roster, led by relievers Jacob Webb and Danny Coulombe in a huge boost to their bullpen. On Sunday, 2024 All-Star Jordan Westburg was activated alongside Ramon Urias, giving this infield more options.

9/14/24 Orioles on verge of getting major bullpen boost. The Baltimore Orioles could have one of their better pitchers back to round out their weekend series with the Detroit Tigers. Manager Brandon Hyde is “hoping it's a possibility” that RHP Jacob Webb rejoins the team before they depart from Detroit. Following a 1-0 defeat on Friday, Baltimore is hoping to bounce back strong at 6:10 PM ET on Saturday. Corbin Burnes is set to draw the start, while the Tigers' pitcher is TBD.

10/17/23 Jacob Webb turned into a pumpkin in the ALDS but showed unexpected value this season. Over the next several weeks, members of the Camden Chat staff will be reviewing one 2023 Orioles player each day to see how the season went for each of them. For righty reliever Jacob Webb, and for the Baltimore Orioles as a whole, it was a bad ending to a great season. A middle-innings fixture down the stretch for a bullpen considered one of the best in the game, Webb got put into two ALDS games against the Texas Rangers… and laid an egg in both. No clean-up was forthcoming: Webb allowed a grand slam, and the Orioles—despite scratching back eight runs—wouldn't recover.

9/22/23 Cleveland Guardians score three runs in the eighth to beat the playoff-bound Baltimore Orioles 5-2. Ramón Laureano drew a bases-loaded walk off Jacob Webb for the go-ahead run in the eighth inning, sending the Cleveland Guardians to a 5-2 victory over the AL East-leading Baltimore Orioles. The Guardians scored three times in the bottom of the eighth, immediately after the Orioles tied the game with two in the top half. Baltimore, which is headed to the postseason for the first time since 2016, holds a 1 1/2-game lead over Tampa Bay in the division and for the best record in the AL. Emmanuel Clase picked up his major league-best 42nd save in 53 opportunities for Cleveland.

The Guardians scored three times in the bottom of the eighth — all charged to Cionel Pérez (4-2) — immediately after the Orioles tied the game with two in the top half. Bo Naylor’s run-scoring single and Gabriel Arias’ RBI grounder followed Laureano’s walk that plated Josh Naylor.

8/22/23 Jacob Webb thriving is the latest example of the Angels getting it wrong. The Los Angeles Angels made what appeared to be a great signing by bringing in Jacob Webb on a minor league deal. Perry Minasian was familiar with Webb from their days in Atlanta, and the right-hander had MLB success in the not-too-distant past. The Angels took a shot on Webb, and amidst their bullpen struggles, called him up in late May. Webb pitched well and very quickly found his way into Phil Nevin's circle of trust. Who can forget Webb saving the day in Texas?

6/03/23 Bregman hits grand slam, Astros beat Angels 9-6. Bregman, who also walked a career-high tying four times, greeted Jacob Webb with his fifth career grand slam that just made it into the first row of the Crawford Boxes to up the lead to 7-1. “That was like a Barry Bonds day,” Houston manager Dusty Baker said. The homer also extended Bregman's hitting streak to 10 games. “I was just trying to get a good pitch to hit,” Bregman said.
