4/10/25 Regulars set to return for Angels in finale vs. Rays. Infielder Luis Rengifo and center fielder Jo Adell are expected back in the starting lineup Thursday afternoon for the Los Angeles Angels when they play the host Tampa Bay Rays in the finale of a three-game series. Both did not start the Angels' 5-4 loss to the Rays on Wednesday, but not because of injury.

4/08/25 Rengifo lifts Angels over Rays 4-3; Tampa Bay loses 5th straight in opener of 13-game homestand. Luis Rengifo hit a tiebreaking single in the ninth inning and the Los Angeles Angels rallied to beat Tampa Bay 4-3 Tuesday night, extending the Rays’ losing streak to five in the opener of a 13-game homestand. Kenley Jansen allowed singles to Jake Mangum and Taylor Walls starting the ninth but escaped a second-and-third, no-outs jam for his third save. Yandy Díaz grounded to Rengifo, who threw out Mangum at the plate from third, and Jansen struck out Brandon Lowe and José Caballero to seal the Angels’ third straight win.

3/17/25 Angels’ Yoán Moncada says he’s optimistic about being ready for Opening Day. Moncada has a bruised right thumb. He still hasn't thrown or hit, but he took ground balls on Monday. If Moncada is unable to go by Opening Day, Luis Rengifo is the likely starter at third base.

3/16/25 Bruised thumb could cost Yoan Moncada a spot on Angels’ Opening Day roster. The injury is the latest blow for a player who has had trouble staying on the field over the past few years. Moncada's absence would move Luis Rengifo to third and likely open the door for Tim Anderson to start at second.

3/15/25 Luis Rengifo Reveals His Opening Day Status For Angels. Los Angeles Angels utility man Luis Rengifo was in jeopardy of missing Opening Day because of a hamstring injury. Concern for Rengifo's status grew when he was scratched from the lineup twice in one week due to hamstring tightness. "I feel good,” Rengifo said. Manager Ron Washington also voiced something similar when he said Rengifo has enough time to recover, pending no setbacks.

3/10/25 Angels Notes: Halos Make Massive Roster Move, Key Veteran Likely to Miss Opening Day With Injury. As the Los Angeles Angels inch closer to Opening Day, they're continuing to cut down their roster. A massive roster move involving 16 players was made as a good chunk of Cactus League contributors will be optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake and minor league camp. In other Angels news, manager Ron Washington hasn't confirmed nor denied the status of Luis Rengifo as fans do not know if they will be seeing their utility man on Opening Day. The skipper, however, confirmed that Rengifo is behind in the process due to tightness in his hamstring. And finally, the Angels are yet to announce who the fifth starter in the pitching rotation will be. Yusei Kikuchi, Tyler Anderson, Kyle Hendricks, and Jose Soriano

2/18/25 Los Angeles Angels' Luis Rengifo Cleared For Spring Training Following Wrist Surgery. The Los Angeles Angels' banged-up infield won't be completely shorthanded entering 2025. Second baseman Luis Rengifo underwent right wrist surgery last August, knocking him out for the final month of the season. The soon-to-be 28-year-old infielder reported to spring training in time for the Angels' first day of full-squad workouts on Monday, though, and he is already back to participating. According to The Sporting Tribune's Jack Janes, Rengifo said Tuesday that he was able to start his normal offseason workout program in late December and that he is "ready to go" for the start of the campaign.

1/13/25 Red Sox should make a deal with Jarren Duran, and other thoughts. Duran has well-publicized issues with self-confidence and is quick to anger, as we saw last season when he was suspended for using a slur toward a fan who yelled, “You need a tennis racket.” Having Duran sit there and listen to reasons why he's not worth an extra $500,000 is a bad idea. The Angels are going to a hearing with infielder Luis Rengifo over $150,000. ? Trevor Story hosted Roman Anthony, Triston Casas, Vaughn Grissom, and Rob Refsnyder in Texas for a few days of workouts last week at the baseball facility he owns.

1/12/25 What is the best positional fit for this versatile Angels infielder?. What is the best positional fit for this versatile Angels infielder? In an ideal world, where should Luis Rengifo be playing in 2025? By Stephen Parello | Share on Facebook Share on X Share on Reddit Copy Article New York Mets v Los Angeles Angels | Brandon Sloter/GettyImages Share on Facebook Share on X Share on Reddit Copy Article Versatility is always a nice thing to have. It opens up flexibility, allows for optimal lineups, and provides options in the event of an inevitable injury. However, as currently constructed, the Angels' infield leaves much to be desired rendering a lot of Luis Rengifo's versatility null and void. The team has a hole in the infield. Whether that's at second or third

7/25/24 MLB Insider Buster Olney Floats Potential Red Sox Trade Target. Luis Rengifo has been rumored to be a trade target for the Red Sox, who could benefit from his bat, positional versatility and contract situation. Los Angeles, which entered Thursday with a 45-57 record, should focus on selling before next Tuesday's MLB trade deadline. The Halos, despite what their struggles suggest, have several players who could appeal to contenders, including Carlos Estevez. “Carlos Estevez has what so many contenders are looking for — dominant stuff and experience closing games,” ESPN's Buster Olney wrote.
