The right-hander pitched into the seventh inning for the first time in 22 major-league starts while matching his previous best with six strikeouts. 5/26/24 SF Giants end wacky road trip with walkoff loss to Mets. If there was a game the Giants were set up to lose on this six-game swing through the Eastern Time Zone, it seemed, they were able to pull it out. The latest tough break came Sunday, as Omar Narvaez ripped a single into center field off Tyler Rogers in the bottom of the ninth to walk off the Giants, 4-3, capping a three-run rally that flipped the score from a 3-1 San Francisco advantage and wasted a brilliant effort from Logan Webb. After reeling off four straight wins to improve their record to better than .500 for the first time this season, the Giants will return home to host the hottest team in the sport — the Philadelphia Phillies — with their record even at 27-27. With Camilo Doval having pitched in four of their previous five games, the Giants called on Rogers, who let a high chopper from Brandon Nimmo glance off his glove to begin the inning as he allowed the first batters to reach base and only put away one of the hitters he faced.

4/23/24 Mets catchers working to improve behind the plate: 'Catchers are working on being quick and making an accurate' throw'. It took the Mets until late April to throw out a runner trying to steal a base, which wasn't what the team expected as they broke camp in Port St. Lucie. After prioritizing defense behind the plate during spring training, catchers Omar Narvaez and Francisco Alvarez looked like they had improved in just about every aspect. Alvarez in particular made excellent progress, showcasing a strong arm and quick times to the plate, getting into a stance with one knee down until seeing a runner take off. The 22-year-old looked primed for a successful second big league season when he went 8-for-8 behind the plate.

9/14/23 David Stearns primed to enhance Mets' culture: 'I loved the atmosphere he created'. Before signing a two-year, $15 million deal with the Mets over the winter, veteran catcher Omar Narvaez spent the previous three seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers — so there was some understandable excitement when reports emerged that David Stearns was hired as New York's new president of baseball operations. Narvaez is one of two Mets — the other being Daniel Vogelbach — who has past experience working under Stearns, who was the Brewers' general manager from 2015-2018 before serving as the organization's president of baseball operations from 2019-2022.

6/05/23 Tomas Nido's message tips hand that time with Mets is running out. The Mets are going to carry two catchers on their big-league roster and when Omar Narvaez is set to come off the injured list on Tuesday, they'd have three between him, star youngster Francisco Alvarez, and Tomas Nido. Considering he and Nido don't have options to be sent to the minors, the only choice general manager Billy Eppler has is to designate either Narvaez and Nido for assignment or try to trade them to get them off the roster.
