4/10/25 | Angels 3B Yoan Moncada (thumb) lands on 10-day IL. The Los Angeles Angels placed third baseman Yoan Moncada on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a right thumb strain. Moncada, 29, originally hurt his thumb in mid-March and had been trying to play through the injury. He is batting .190 (4-for-21) with two doubles and four RBIs in eight games in his first season with Los Angeles. Moncada signed a one-year, $5 million deal in February following eight seasons with the Chicago White Sox. In related moves, the Angels promoted infielder J.D. Davis from Triple-A Salt Lake and designated left-hander Jack Dashwood for assignment. –Field Level Media Source: https://wkzo.com/2025/04/10/angels-3b-yoan-moncada... |

4/05/25 | Angels Manager Provides Massive Update on 3 Players Who Left Game With Injury. The Los Angeles Angels have been no strangers to injuries in this sample size of 2025 thus far. Manager Ron Washington has been forced to get extremely creative in his lineups and the final product out on the field amid these changes, but he provided a positive update on when to expect the trio of injured Angels to return. Luckily, the three Angels who left Friday's contest early — infielders Yoan Moncada, Luis Rengifo, and reliever Ryan Zeferjahn — are not expected to hit the injured list, per Washington. 3/27/25 | Angels Place 2 Players on Injured List, Including Pitcher With Concerning Injury. On Opening Day a year ago, a team projected to win 61½ games still had Yoan Moncada and Eloy Jimenez in the lineup and rising ace Garrett Crochet on the mound. “I think we're going to see a lot of positives come out, and it's not just focused on wins and losses,” general manager Chris Getz predicted before the team's pre-Opening Day workout. Yoan Moncada and Tim Anderson, two of the most influential stars from the Chicago White Sox days of contention, are set to return to Chicago Thursday afternoon — in Angels red. That's right, Moncada and Anderson are set to make the Angels' opening day roster and are both likely to be in the lineup for the halos matinée matchup with the White Sox. 3/19/25 | Angels Manager Says Injured Infielder Should Be Ready for Opening Day. The Los Angeles Angels have already been hit with the injury bug this spring despite no regular season games being played yet. One of the biggest pieces from this offseason was the signing of infielder Yoan Moncada. Although he is still on pause to throw or hit once again, the veteran believes that he can still make it back by Opening Day. “I feel like I'm going to be ready for Opening Day,” Moncada said. 3/17/25 | Yoan Moncada vocal on Opening Day 'mindset' amid thumb injury. The Los Angeles Angels took a flier on Yoan Moncada this offseason. The often banged up veteran was expected to start at third base for LA but a spring training thumb injury is worse than the Angels anticipated, throwing Moncada's availability into question. While the team has serious concerns, Moncada is confident that he'll be in the lineup at the start of the season. The Angels haven't ruled out a trip to the injured list but manager Ron Washington is rooting for Moncada to play. Source: https://clutchpoints.com/mlb/los-angeles-angels/an... |

2/22/25 | Free Agent Says He Chose Angels Over Other Offers to Play With Mike Trout. Los Angeles Angels third baseman Yoan Moncada chose the Halos over other team's in his free agency process. 2/21/25 | Angels' $5 Million Infielder Behind Schedule Due to Soreness. Los Angeles Angels third baseman Yoan Moncada is a few days behind the other position players due to soreness, according to manager Ron Washington. Moncada is looking to bounce back in 2025 after a disappointing season with the Chicago White Sox in which he only played 12 games due to injury. While the Angels hope to escape the cellar of the American League, Moncada gives the Halos (hopefully) a more reliable option at the hot corner. Moncada's best performance came during the 2019 season where he slashed .315/.367/.548 with a career-high 25 home runs. Source: https://www.si.com/mlb/angels/angels-news/angels-5... |
2/09/25 | Angels' $5 Million Free Agent Chose Halos Over Interested NL Contender. The Los Angeles Angels added third baseman Yoan Moncada to a one-year deal worth $5 million on Thursday night but had to fight a National League contender to get him. The Chicago Cubs reportedly expressed interest in Moncada and made an offer of approximately $3 million for one season, according to sources of baseball insider Francys Romero. Adding Moncada to the roster is significant because he exclusively plays the same position as Anthony Rendon, who has been a disappointment since signing a seven-year, $245 million contract in December 2019. With the addition of Moncada, who has primarily played third base over the past seven seasons, Rendon's role with the Angels becomes less certain. According to the New York Post, the New York Yankees could still display interest in former Chicago White Sox infielder Yoan Moncada this offseason. Early in the offseason, the Yankees asked for and received medical information on Moncada, who played just 12 games with the White Sox last season because of an adductor strain.
