One of the issues that's come up with the return of Jeff McNeil was David Stearns' decision to farm out suddenly hot Brett Baty to make room for the former batting champion to return to the big club after his injury rehab. The Alavarez for Senger move was expected and not at all surprising, but the Baty move did catch a few folks off guard. To look back at the options Stearns had before him, it seemed rather obvious to the casual fan that AAAA outfielder Jose Azocar who was ostensibly an emergency injury replacement for Jose Siri. In the recent comments an in some article profiles the topic has arisen more than once about the Mets' plethora of infielders and how they will likely use them as trade chips moving forward. Jeff McNeil is the most obvious name on the list for the Mets to try to parlay into something else. Already called out by Francisco Lindor for his less than stellar effort, the young speedster Luisangel Acuna who usually displays sharp defense is one of those roll the dice type of candidates. Given his biological pedigree, his minor league accomplishments and his blazing baserunning he is sure to be of interest to most clubs, particularly ones who do not often spend a lot on player salaries (ahem, Miami).
